Boo indeed, Setmefree, 264 quids worth of boo!
Looks like the joint account cupboard will be bare come the end of the month, so no extra OP funds coming from there, apart from the usual regular OP. No big deal, I found myself with no cash on a couple of occasions and had to pay for a few bits of shopping out of it. We've done really well in other ways this month so I'm pleased.
Just waiting for a transfer to go through, then I'll be able to update my sig with where the fund is at now.
I'm also waiting on my annual mortgage statement. How funny to be actually looking forward to seing it and looking at all we've paid off! The top up payment we made has taken effect, took the repayments down by around £16 pm. So again once this month has come to an end and I've done some jiggling about with transfers and stuff I'll increase the regular OP accordingly.
On a none MFW note- 8 weeks to go till baby bean No 2 is here! Last time I was totally sorted by now, nursery all done, bags packed, etc. This time, nothing! No curtain pole up at the nursery window, no cot or moses basket down from the loft, the travel system is still in the garage roof and loft, no bags packed, no clothes washed, nothing!
Better start getting organised really!0 -
Sadly I need glasses, I haven't had them before. I am going to book myself an eye test on Monday. I'm not looking forward to tthis additional cost:o or having to worry about losing them continuously - boo....
Well done on all your progress.0 -
Morning all,
Need to ring my online savings people at some point today. I'm sure I arranged a transfer to the OP fund online last week but it's not gone through. But I don't want to do it again only for it to go through twice.
Also did a deal with our internet provider yesterday. Got 3mths free and about a tenner a mth off the price, because we were looking around at other providers. We live in a funny area with not a lot of speed and have found that ISPs are a bit nervy about us using them as the connection might not be good. But just saying that we were shopping around has got us a great deal and we're staying put for now.
Defo need to review that OP standing order now, that'll be another tenner a mth to add to it!
Still waiting on our IFA to get back to us re the BTL mortgage. My mum works for a well known high street bank and so I'm also going to see what they can offer, if anything. Should be doing that on Thurs this week if poss.
Well the joy of the weekly shop today and I could do with going to B&Q or somewhere to get a light for the downstairs toilet, we're painting the hall, stairs and landing this weekend and updating the loo with a new small towel rad, accessories, etc.
THEN once we've got the new carpet, we MIGHT just get started on baby stuff. Well, with 7 and a bit weeks to go it's about time....
Have a good day everyone.0 -

Hi,
Well got my mortgage statement through, it was nice to see those figures and the balance coming down. I'd love to see it below £100k this time next year, that would be fantastic.
Doing a bit of unplanned moneysaving just now as our boiler conked out this weekend so no hot water or heating! Fortunately DH is a plumber so is hoping to get hold of some parts on Tues and if that doesn't work then it'll be a new boiler next weekend. We're hoping for the former option rather than the latter. We are planning on swapping the boiler this year but not just yet, it'd be nice to be able to keep it going for a few more months.
Went to a high street bank this week to see what deals they could offer us on our BTL. Nothing better than what we have now really. Annoyingly if we didn't already have a BTL mortgage and a tenant they'd have been able to offer us a residential mortgage deal which are better rates. Ah well. Still waiting on the IFA to get back to us.
Child free night tonight, DS is on his first sleepover at his grandparents, hope he's gone to bed OK for them, I don't want it to be a one off!
Have a good bank holiday everyone.0 -
I just wanted to say hello:hello:and goodluck with your quest :www:. I have found keeping a diary on here so helpful. Look forward to reading more about your money making/saving in the near future (and of course baby news!)
TPAxMFW - We've only gone and blooming done it!May 2013:j0 -
Have updated my sig today, quite pleased with how things are going.
Need to review our outgoings and spare cash at some stage after the mortgage payement has gone down from this mth and we also got that deal on our broadband. Hopefully that'll be an extra 20 per mth to OP.
But to counteract all that I'm off out shopping for the last few baby essentials on Thurs!

well done :T:T that signature's looking great:D 0 -
mornin'
Not much doing on the MFW front right now, just plodding along, keeping the faith, keeping an eye on the bank balance and trying to keep hold of as much cash as poss!
Mid mth prediction I should be able to add an extra £80 to the OP fund from the joint account.
I got my HIP grant yesterday, £190 that's given to all expectant mums, for those who didnt know. Have shoved it away for now, don't need it so not touching it.
I need to wait and see what I'll get in terms of maternity allowance next. The biggest expense in the next few months is DS' nursery fees over the summer when I wont be working and the goverment funding isn't active. It's around the £60 p/week mark so I just need to be organised.
Anyway, 5 and a bit weeks till DS2 arrives, all the decorating is done, all the baby stuff is down from the loft, just needs cleaning and putting together. Hospital bag needs packing then I'm all ready!0
