I really am rubbish at keeping these MF diaries, this is my third or something!
But I think I do need something to keep me going this time. We'll be hopefully paying a lump sum off soon and that'l be the max we can pay for this financial year. But I don't want to rest on my laurels and not bother just because we've done all the mortgage company will let us do this year.
So, have just updated my sig to include my OP fund which currently stands at just over £311. I have a s/o of £50 per mth going into this, plus I clear the joint account at the end of each mth after all the DDs have gone out. Looking at about £70 coming from that this mth.
Just counted up my change jar and £2 coin jar and i have £142 to pay in today :j
Am child free today so am just about to go and catch up on paperwork. DH is self employed and so am I. We havde our second child due in about 9 weeks, so it's going to get pretty hectic around here soon- 2 kids, 2 businesses-
Got to sort out my MAT1 form today to claim maternity allowance. I wont be off for long, planning to officially finish in around 6 weeks time and I'll be back by Sept.
Right, off to tackle accounts, receipts, etc- oh the fun!

Well a good day yesterday. Counted up £142 from the change/£2 coin jars. Then I fiinally decided to pay in a small stash of cash I've been sitting on for ages and adding to- just bits from when I get given money for birthdays for example. THEN it was that time of the term where my business partner and I take a small salary so that was £200.
So in total I paid in £642!!!!
Not all of this is going to the OP fund, I do want to hang on to some of it for myself. Not to be selfish, but I never take money just for me, all payments from my business have always gone to OPing. And there are a few things I want to get for myself before the new baby comes that i wont get round to once he's here- like some perfume, summer sandals, etc. Need to get some good walking sandals for when I'm walking all the baby weight off!
I'm also aiming to make us a bit of money back after DH crashed his van. We claimed on the insurance as it was an expensive bump. Sent the van to the insurers garage and the replacement door was delivered damaged not once, but FOUR times. So instead of the job taking 3/4 working days, it's taken a day short of 4 weeks. So we are not happy. Had it not been for the garage kindly lending us a van we'd have been screwed workwise or would have had to hire a van at around £200 per week. So I'm going to compose a letter to the company as I really think the whole situation was handled with complete incompetence. We'll see what they have to say...0 -
Just bumping my diary back up, it's been a gorgeous day here, we've been outside all day.
Need to chase up the mortgage company tomorrow. I made a repayment at the end of March to pay off the max we could for that year. But not heard anything from them as to what my new balance is and how that affects my repayments (unfortunately they insist on reducing the repayments but I just supplement this with a standing order into my repayment fund).
Our BTL deal also comes to an end in June and I rang our IFA to ask him to have a look round for us for a new deal. Not heard from him so will chase him up too.
We should be able to get the repayments down on this, so the difference will be syphoned off to the MF fund.
just chilling out now, DH at the pub, DS in bed and back at nursery tomorrow- yay!0 -
Gillybean will be interested in how you get on re BTL mortgage. Ours is with C&G, 1.24% above BofE base rate but only till 31/12/09. Suspect we may end up struggling to find anything decent - we have at least 50% equity but O?S mortgage in Dec should only be 40k so I expect arrangement fees will rule out better deals. Also, many (including now C&G) ask for agreement with letting agent & won't consider if you do yourself. I suspect we may bung all of our offset savings into it & run with their standard rate.
Sorry to hijack! Enjoy chilling. I'm sure bubba wouldn't mind a small glass of wine

Hi gallygirl, don't mind the hijack at all!
Our BTL is currently with Advantage and after June will be 2.19% above base rate. Will let you know if we're able to find anything else decent. What did you mean by C&G asking for agreement with letting agent? We did use one to find our tenant, but that was over 4 years ago now, we've had the same guy in all this time. Do you mean they're pretty much forcing you to get an agent to manage your property? That's outrageous!0 -

Grrr, thats really anooying Gallygirl.
Not only have we had the same tenant in for over 4 years like you, but we also live directly across the road from the property so can drop in any time. On top of that DH is a Gas Safe registered plumber and so being in that industry we know a tradesman in every skill we could possibly ever need to call on.WHY would we need an agent?
Surely if the tenant is happy with the place and it's well maintained, etc thats the main thing?0 -

Are you trying to say you know better than one of our esteemed financial institutions
????? I'm with you on that one

Oops, sorry, silly me, i should know my place, lol.
Bit of a setback yesterday, my glasses broke. I was overdue a test anyway, but this'll be £200ish I wasn't planning on spending.
