Some one some where must have a recipe to make those gorgeous little onions you get from the indian?
The ones from my local take away are red and I think they have cucumber and tomato in there too. They are delish but I have no idea what so ever how I would go about making them - I always buy a couple of pots extra to go on sandwiches
That and the slightly spicy yellow sauce to go on onion bhajis would complete my world lol
Thanks if anyone can help

Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together

Hi phunkles,
There's a recipe for onion relish here that I've tried and it's good and tastes very similar to the one my local Indian restaurant serves with popadoms, but I'm not sure if it's the one you are looking for.
Is the sauce yellow with a sweet mint taste and served with popadoms? If that's the one this is how I make it:
Add a teaspoon of sugar to a little hot water and stir until it dissolves. Then add a little turmeric (approx a quarter of a teasp) to the water. Mix this with a small carton of natural yoghurt and then add in a teaspoon of mint sauce and a little lemon juice. Stir it all well to make the consistency thinner.
I'm afraid I tend to cook by eye so the quantities aren't exact so you may need to play about with it a bit. It keeps in the fridge for two or three days.

Mt Dad does one with finely chopped onions and very little tomato ketchup, which gives it the slight sweet tatse. If the onions are really strong they don't need much else. These taste like the ones we often get from our Indian. Can be spiced up with cayenne or other indian spice.

Thanks everyone
I lurve those little onions
Im beginning to think that my local indian does its own unique little bhaji sauce Because I had an indian or two last week while away and the sauce was more minty - My local indians is sort of cool and watery and spicy not at all minty though
Will be off to try to make those onions later
Thanks again xxLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
