Orange / Arrow Global Debt

My Brother had a number of debts and finally managed to settle them all around June/July time last year.

One of the Debts was a very old phone bill from Orange. When he contacted Orange he was told that the debt had been 'written off' and was considered settled and they sent him an account statement showing a 0 balance as confirmation.

Recently he had letter form a company called Arrow Global and a letter headed with an Orange logo asking for payment of the debt and claiming the debt had been passed on. He has now been recieving a number of calls and Letters from Eversheds and recently another company in regards to this.

Now the date they are giving for the debt being passed on is actually prior to the date Orange told him the debt was settled although he had never recieved notification of this?

It may well be that this is normal but to me it 'feels' wrong

Any advice on how to handle this?

Thanks in Advance

It is for Arrow Global to prove the debt.

i had exactly the same problem with them relating to an orange debt.

I wroite to them acknowledging that whilst i accepted that the debt was not covered by the consumer credit act in order for them to legitimatley collect the alleged debt they must provide me with evidence of the outstanding debt or agreement having been entered into by me.

They were unable to do this and therefore the debt became unenforceable. they confirmed they had in the circumstances decided to not persue the matter further.

May be worth writing to them asking them to provide you with evidence of the outstanding debt before doing anything else

  • Hi, I am having the same problem with Arrow Global and an old Orange bill, this bill relates to April 2004, when an ex-wife ran up a bill of £1,749:56, I contacte Orange, explained how the bill had occured and Orange put a default notice on my credit reference, I heared nothing more untill December 2008, when the letter arrived from Arrow saying they had aquired the debt and wanted payment.
In the meantime Orange has issued me with a new monthly contract in the same name, address ect. I am talking at the moment to the Court Mediator with a view to try and stop this going to Court, even offering to pay something weekly, WHAT should I do PLEASE,
