I made the fruit cobber last night - used less sugar (3/4 mug) and added some cinamon and apples. Served it with HM yoghurt. It was gorgeous. Thank you Black Saturn!

OH says that it must be fattening though and thinks we should limit to once a week! He thought 3/4 cup of sugar sounded a lot. I must weigh it and see.

I doubled the sr flour (2 cups)
    milk (2 cups)
    sugar (1 cup)
    then fruit
I thought there was a lot of sugar thats why i cut it down but it still tastes nice with less sugar i might cut it down to more and i use light

Comparing this recipe with others I have found on the web then there is quite a high proportion of sugar in this one. The others do have more ingredients in, so obviously not as cheap to make in any way.

I keep to the mug measurement as theres no weighing and measuring needed. You can do it in about 5 minutes.

Ok, here is my recipe for Leek and Bacon bake and this is to feed 3 people:

    Leek and Bacon Bake

    Ingredients

    1lb potatos
    2 medium leeks
    5oz grated cheese
    Splash milk
    knob of butter
    6 rashers value smoked bacon

    Method

Preheat the oven to gas mark 5. Peel the potatos and put on to boil. Chop the leeks into inch long segments and then cut each segment lengthways. Put in a bowl and pour on boiling water and microwave on full power for about 4 minutes just to soften them slightly. Meanwhile part grill the bacon.

When the potatos are cooked mash them with a splash of milk and a knob of butter.

In a baking dish (metal or pyrex, it doesnt matter) spread a thin layer of mash in the bottom and then a thin layer of grated cheese. Then add the leeks, then the bacon. Then keep doing that until all the filling is used up. Pop it in the oven for about 20 - 30 minutes.

I've only tried leek so far so I dont really know what vege would be a good substitute. Anyone else got any idea?

I forgot your supposed to sprinkle salt and pepper on it too but I suppose thats optional.
