I've done a search of the thread and nothing came up so apologies if this has already been mentioned. When using mince you can stretch it with TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) which you can buy in health shops. Just a handful of it soaked in water and then put in with your mince when cooking. Just treat like mince once made etc, freezing etc. Worth having a bag handy in the cupboard, you can get TVP chunks too so you can use it in stews/casseroles too.

Excellent - looking forward Black Saturn!!

I really enjoyed seeing your recipes, partly because I enjoy cooking, partly because I would like to save money and partly because I am plain nosey and like to know other people's business! :T

I really hope you'll keep posting and I will be keeping an eye out for more recipe ideas from you on this thread....

    Black Saturn,

I've used TVP mince when making chilli, stove top and slow cooker and it's fine. Kids ate it up no problem. So long as you have a good flavoured gravy/sauce etc so that the TVP soaks it up. I don't mind it at all and it fairly stretches out your mince.

I cheated tonight and dished up frozen mini kievs and chips. Well I have got a stinking cold so I thought I'd have the 'night off'.
