LOL. Once my mum left my dad a portion of shepherds pie in the fridge to put in the oven to reheat. The next day when she asked him if it was alright he said it was OK but that was the chewyest cheese he'd ever eaten. He'd only left the clingfilm on the top. :rotfl:

oh god why are (some)men so dim lmao
  • I've made my first ever meal plan

Breakfast everyday - Porridge and honey/banana for me, toast and jam for OH and OJ (Sat Banana and honey bread w/glasses of milk, Sun Full English)
Monday Lunch - BLT, Dinner Bacon and tomato pasta
Tuesday Lunch - Leftover pasta, Dinner - Shep Pie w/carrots and peas
Wed Lunch - Tom soup for me, Cheese and Tom sandwich for OH, Dinner Pile up recipe found on this site
Thurs Lunch - Cold pile ups, Dinner - Meatloaf w/carrots, mushy peas and mash
Fri Lunch - meatloaf, Dinner - Crusty topped fish and mushy peas
Sat Lunch - Veg soup, Dinner - HM Pizza
Sun Lunch - Roast Chicken, veg, potatoes and gravy with sponge pudding, Supper - Bread and Butter, biscuits, cakes

Plus Apples and Pears for snacks and desserts. Thinking about incorporating the fruit cobbler as a possible dessert. Also freshly made apple juice at w/end

Not priced up yet, not got our big freezer at the mo either so can't use the butchers meat for a week (for about 6 weeks in our case!) offers either. We get fruit and veg from the market when poss and I imagine our eggs will be too. Most of the other bits will be from Lidl, Aldi and Asda depending on what's available.

Sounds like a good plan Nicola1982... I reckon about 25 pounds a week should be more than enough at a guess.. let us know when you have priced it if you will.
  • Nicola1982-Menu plan sounds delish!!

    Keep up the good work.

I like to use a mix of meat types or meatloaf starts to taste/look like a giant burger! You could use a mix of lamb mince and leftover cooked lamb.

I think so, I've not tried myself but I'm pretty sure it can be made with any minced meat.

i made the malt loaf, god how simple was that. i had made it by half 8 this morning , while the kids were finishing brekkie.but i didn't think 4 oz of fruit was enough , it didn't look very much so i added 8 oz. and it has turned out gorgeous. i also used less sugar as i didn't have enough.

i have sliced it thick and got a thick layer of butter on it., yummy. thanks black saturn
