Thanks for all the recipes black saturn.i am going to try the fruit cobbler and the malt loaf as soon as i have time!I think you are doing brilliantly on your budget and its nice you can then treat yourself and the kids too. They'll be able to look back at their childhoods with happy memories of doing stuff together and not just eating tons of expensive food!! :j :j"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Did the fruit cobbler with a tin of fruit salad we found lurking in back of cupboard:eek: only added about 2/3 of sugar though and sprinkled with a little cinnamon, cooked on low/medium for 25mins in fan assisted oven and was delish. Served with cornish ice-cream....so glad im not on a diet:rotfl: the pudding costing was pennies really.
Thanks Black-Saturn

Sure thing loopy,it was 1 tsp.
I had another thought, hope Black saturn doesn't mind, but I reckon the cobbler would be great if you replaced a couple of tbsp of the flour with cocoa.A choc version would be nice with tinned pears, and you could push some pieces of plain choc in with them so you'd have chocolatey bits ...hmmm
You could put coconut in there too, would be nice with pineapple.
Best thing for me about this pud, is that it has no eggs, always a plus in my house.0 -

A big thank you from me too Black-Saturn :j
I love the recipes and it is making me think again about what I have in store in the cupboards. I must have loads of variations in my storecupboard contents alone
... lots of tinned fruit
... dried fruits - sultana's, cherries, currants etc.
.... shredded coconut
.... ginger, golden syrup, cocoa, cinnamon, etc.
I feel a creative streak coming on.
Well done for pulling all this information together, I know it must take a lot of time and effort. It is an inspiration for looking at ways to cut costs but still provide an interesting diet.Enjoying an MSE OS life1
