Spent the afternoon gathering addresses of all creditors. Thought I may write to them all, requesting to have all communication in writing, as I really, really do not want them to start calling my workplace.
I assume I also need this info for BR forms.

As I am working away, I had to log into my bank account to find out about exact loan amount.

Once there I notice that my next BT bill (due on Monday via DD) is a whooping £149!!! I call abroad a lot, but have the overseas call package for £5, which should make all calls within 60 minutes free (has done so in the past, no problems).

I call BT and am told that I am Otion 2 and that means that this only applies to evenings and afternoons. Never was so before, had no communication about it... They will be looking into it. I request that they do not take the money, but do not really trust them to not take it....

To make sure the money canno be taken I go to cancel my DD via online banking. Not possible - as to close to date.

If this money is taken, I will go 149 over my agreed overdraft facility. And wont that be classed as preferential treatment? Increasing my debt with bank to pay BT bill???

This incident is so typical to how my life usually pans out, everything I do turns out very wrong indeed!

    Hi bluebird,

Is this a bank account that you are keeping open after BR?

Off the top of my head I am thinking that if you can't spare or don't have the £149 you could empty the account, let the dd bounce (if it is presented) and open an account with the co-op, which you will need at some stage anyway.

If you have the £149, let them take it (if it happens) but don't forget the dd indemnity which means they can't take an amount that you are disagree with and the bank has to refund it immediately if you dispute it and take it up with the provider.

Your account - your choice..... don't be bullied!

On a seperate note, I have noticed some sneaky changes to my BT bill as well. They are now charging me for 1571 because I don't have two charged calls through them a month (I am with Sky) - that has made my bill creep up.
Got to keep an eye on these peeps!!!

Good Morning Start Again and all others,

the bank account is my old account. I am already overdrawnby £750 and owe them around £9000 for a loan.

I have opened a co-opaccount and the plan was to have my next wages going in there (end of this month). This would have left my account within the agreed overdraft facility and also would have ensured that the bank can take no further loan payments.
I left £30 in there for the phone bill.

Just so annoyed, the cheek of them! Thank you for the tip about asking the bank to return the money, just a bit worried about calling them just when they are about to realise that I am jumping ship....

Will go and enjoy today, kids made a lovely breakfast and the dog needs a walk! Cannot keep on worrying constantly, need some fun!:rotfl:

    Hi bluebird,

You are up and running then, just start doing everything through the co-op now and walk away from your old bank. I did the same - I had an overdraft, credit card and loan with mine and I just left it empty and unused for a month before BR. It takes them a while to twig - honestly.

Have a great day in the sunshine, even if your head is full of debt stuff it is amazing how much a bit of fresh air and sunshine can make it all a bit easier to deal with.

    hugs

    A little update.

Bt took the money. Am now £149 more overdrawn than before and £149 over my limit. Hello BRU/BRO, am convinced now that I will get one of those....

My wages are due tomorrow. Even though I informed employer of new account details I am worried beyond belief about the money ending up in the overdrawn account. Especially as I have sent my 'PLease do not phone me' letters today.

During the last few days the worries have increased, the 'what ifs' fly circles in my head, and the 'must not forgets' are lying on my chest like heavy boulders.
Must call Co-op to check if wages have arrived and set up internet banking tomorrow. Also must set up direct debits for essential bills. Spent half my CB on a food shop, must pay childcare.... I find myself sighing alot.

Further worries about my little boy, who may have autism/Asperger's, but has not been fully assessed yet. Trouble at school again... I love him so much, I must stay strong.

BTW, I read your diary StartAgain, please keep on writing! x

Hope therest of you are having a more upbeat week!

    Hi bluebird,

Just catching up with the board and got round to your latest news.
I can guarantee that every one of us that has changed our bank details with our employers panics before the first salary is due to go in! Please try not to stress over things that haven't happened and indeed may not happen at all.
We call it the "what if" feeling. We all get it and all I can do is reassure you that most of it wont happen and your head is playing games - try and put your common sense head on and wait until things have to be dealt with rather than think up how you will cope "if" they happen. A waste of your time and energy.
You will be fine, keep taking deep breaths and try and relax.
Thanks for the comment about my diary - about to post now.
Lots of best wishes and a hug

So it has happened. My Wages went into OLD account!!

I drew out £250 and then tried to transfer the rest via internet banking to new account... trying damage limitation.

CO-OP says that it will take up to 4 working days to appear in their account. That will be Monday. IF the old bank does not manage to stop it somehow....(there you go, another IF)

GOD NEWS: BThave agreed to refund the call charges abroad. And not just for March, but they also overcharged in Feb and Jan (not as much, or I would've noticed). So I am due around £160! And this is my first rolling smilie:
    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

My advice: check your BT call charges!

Startagain-will go now and read your update! xx

    Hello everyone!

Good news, my wages arrived yesterday at the co-op, so did the tax credit.
I have to just worry about the CSA now...

Spent nearly all morning setting up new Direct Debits. It was a nice experience to speak to nice call centre people (so I won't suffer from a call centre phobia when this is over, lol). My phone is unplugged most of the time now.

Told a few more people at work and some more friends about the BR thingy. Am really so relieved that they all are so non-judgemental and supportive. I feel very humble that people show such kindness and that is at least a positive experience caused by the BR.

The 'glass is half-full' feeling has settled over me this weekend. After all there are far worse things in life than BR and I am trying to focus on all the positives in my life!

I wish you all lots of positves. xx:j

had the same thing with my friends.. it made the whole process a lot easier than it could have been, knowing I had their support, even if it was an "alien" thing to them :D

Glad things are going ok
