Please may I just ask a quick etiquette question about merge requests....
When I first came in here, I'd noticed people asking the OPs of duplicated posts to send a merge request, so assumed it was only the person who'd posted who could do so.
A while back I went to enter a comp and realised it was a dupe, so posted the link with a "Can you request a merge please?" Another MSEer posted along the lines of "No, but you can," so I then realised that anyone could, (and felt rather "Told off!")
Am anxious not to cause offence, so would really appreciate knowing what's correct protocol!

Thats a weird one, if the op is still on board i generally ask them as it's their post, but if it's on a thread where the op is renowned for not re visiting then whoever spots it generally sends it xx
If say after i'd asked u , u hadnt replied to say u had within say an hour or so, i'd send the merge and state that on the thread.

Just hope I don't tread on any toes!
Just posting to say "Thanks!" and let you know that I have sent merge request, but had to just pick one BG at random (Divadee) as no lights were on.

If i see a dupe i just send merge request myself & state i have done so. I dont see the point in saying ill do it in an hour if you havent?! Bit of waste of time really.

But as said there are no rules, so just follow ur instincts xx
