Hi,
I'm on a DMP which started in november. I have broadband at the mo but was thinking of switching to a cheaper one now we have done our 18 month contract we had. If i did it through a new company though I would have to sign up to say 12 moths etc so is this classed as taking credit out? Cos I know u are not supposed to when on a dmp but i was just wanting to change to a cheaper option. And they would have to do a credit check wouldnt they? Unsure. Any help would be appreciated!

Perhaps a bit of a grey area. I personally wouldn't look at that as being "credit" as you are signing up for a new deal. I think CCCS mean that you are not supposed to take out loans or credit cards etc.
I've been on my dmp with CCCS since January last year and changed my broadband, electricity for cheaper deals.
This could be seen as being positive as you are reducing your outgoings and therefore will have more to put towards your debts.
Not sure about the credit check bit as I'm only PAYG mobile etc.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 2014

I ahve taken a new contract out for a mobile (completely different company than my existing PAYG), and not had any problems ( was a bit worried that the credit check would exclude me - but I did it online & phone on its way in about 30 minutes)
I suppose it could be seen as grey area, but I kind of think to myself that there is an amount in my I&E form that's gone to my creditors that covers my phone - if I spend that by having a contract, then that should be fine.
Plus, surely it's just the same as most utilities, when you pay monthly. I[STRIKE]DFW Nerd number 729[/STRIKE]Debt Free & Proud0
