was attacked outside the Odyssey on Friday night. She was going to watch a Belfast Giant's match and she and her friend, while waiting for other friends, were attacked by two girls. My friend's daughter was hit over the head with a bottle. Police were called and descriptions of the attackers given, but not found AFAIK. Police advised to go to hospital as she had a large bump on her head. Policeman also advised her to see a solicitor on Monday.
She was sent home from casualty and on Saturday she still felt a bit woozy and had a headache, but seems to be on the mend.
As the assailants have not been caught and there were only two attackers am I right in saying she would have no-one to claim against? In which case I am unsure why the policeman advised her to see a solicitor?

I thought that a claim could be put in with the NI office? Tbh if it's only a bump and no lasting damage there's not much to claim. The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0

A friend of mine was the victim of a similar sort of attack. She was standing putside a bar calling a taxi on her mobile when some drunk guy just assualted her and knocked her to the ground. She too was advised to claim off NIO (she was quite badly hurt) even though there was no chance of identifying the assailant.0

you claim off the NIO someone i know was hurt when they were sitting on a bus and someone kicked the window in showering her with glass - she had a couple of teeny tiny cuts on her face and got over £2000. I'm not "bigging up" the compensation culture in this country, I'm just letting you know that she may receive reasonable compensation, and frankly I would rather an innocent bystander who was actually hurt in an incident like this claims compensation rather than the large numbers of "whiplash victims" who claim in car accidents each year.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY
