LOL if you want to come to Wales I'm currently teaching my almost 7 year old son to knit, I'm sure a few more won't hurt...
I can't imagine trying to learn from a book, I learnt on my mum's knee aged about 3 or 4 and it just becomes second nature. But I'm discovering now how much patience she must have had as teaching my son is driving me nuts!
Do you have a wool shop near you? A proper one, not something like Hobbycraft. Often you find that wool shops hold lessons or knitting groups, often above the shop. There is a sewing shop near me which teaches quilting which I quite fancy trying...0 -
I learnt earlier this year using a childs book - Learn to Knit - I found it much easier and simpler. Having said that I only do the plain stitch - haven't progessed to purl yet!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Woo! I bought some 10mm needles from a charity shop, and am knitting using quite thin wool. It's produced a very pretty knit with lots of holes! I mean all knitting has holes, but these are big holes. It's sorta like crochet but with knitting.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

This may sound like a really strange idea, but... have you thought about a community centre, village hall, WI? or the like that has groups that meet ( This is going to sound patronising no matter how I put it.
, but no offence meant. ) say of the older generation who may knit and would be happy to get you started.
I'm the opposite I knit, crochet, sew etc and have no-one to pass the skills onto.
We have a wool stall on the market but they dont do anything like that. We did have a craft shop in in a little market alleyway thingy but it closed down.
Good for you to want to pass on the skills tho:jWhat Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
