My challenges for next week are:

To bag up all of the coins in my large Bells Whiskey jar and pay them into the bank ... There's not a huge amount but I may aswell earn some interest on it :j

To gather up all of the foreign coins from our recent backpacking trip, exchange them at the Post Office and pay the £'s into the bank :j

To send off letters to MBNA and Yorkshire Bank requesting copies of all statements from the last six years. We are planning on claiming back all punitive charges on the accounts, as per the "Bank Charges - illegal?" thread :j

    Good luck everyone!

    get one day's paid work

NOT to go into Boots again for bargains!

    Good luck everyone!

  • Hi just wondered how you all did on your challenges this week. I managed to sell a few things on ebay. Still have a lot more clearing out to do though, so that will be ongoing. I will also be paying off the catalogue later on today, which was my other challenge. So a good week. Can't wait to change my signature later on.

Hope you all managed your challenges, let me know how you got on.

I managed two out of four...

I have done a bit more on my possible new business.

I only spent 99p in Boots, for the chocolates (the £10 top up for DD's phone was planned), and as I found a £5 voucher lying on the floor :j I ended up gaining!

Unfortunately, no £2 coins anywhere, so I shall carry that one over for next week. No work, as I went down with the virus all the children had the week before...

No work this week, as it is halfterm. Roll on Spring!

Well we managed to stay within our £150 weekly budget for once - so pleased! This week will be far more challenging though and I need to pay for my degree dissertation module - £220 (employer will only pay for half of it - also £220) and need to pay another £220 to an Ed. Psychologist that assessed my daughter for dyslexia. Will get that back eventually though. So an extra whopping £440 I need to find this week!!!

  • Hi everyone,

    Here were all my goals:-

    (moneysaving) Goals for LAST week:-

*Have a fun week off work on holiday but spending as little money as possible. Find cheap or free things to do. FAILED MISERABLY - SPENT FAR TOO MUCH MONEY AND NEED TO HAVE A WORD WITH MYSELF
*Put an advert out locally advertising my babysitting services DONE!
*Book a table at my local antique and bric a brac fair to sell my glass painting DONE!
*List more things on eBay DONE AND SOME SOLD!, MUST DO MORE THOUGH...
*Clean the house! (Not stricly money saving, but will try and use old style tips!) NOT DONE - IT'S A TIP!

    (moneysaving) Goals for THIS week:-

*Get back into my usual moneysaving ways - have some no spend days. Stop spending money!
*Work more on setting up my new business. Try and find out about start-up grants.
*Read more of Martin's book and Money For Life by Alvin Hall.
*Clean my house and the windows (hopefully today).

Hopefully I'll do better this week - I've had a bad week, spending wise - and just need to calm down.

Good luck everyone, with all your goals!

    Hi there
I think this is a great thread so thought I'd join in!

My plan is to make sandwiches and a drink for my 6 hour train journey on tuesday, thereby avoiding expensive train food!

I also want to get the £86 each that two of my housemates owe me (I pay all the bills) and put it straight in my savings. Been a few weeks since I paid it and have kept bank balance ok despite it so I figure its not needed right now, thats £172 bonus to my savings!!

When I get home I need to do a food shop, will challenge myself with a small budget and continue to use up the contents of the cupboard and freezer.

Best of luck everyone with your challenges!!

Editted to say: will also attempt to get my £2 coin collection started, bit pathetic at the mo :rotfl:

Have decided to mark myself out of ten on each week's challenges!

Well, I took sandwiches and a drink for the train but still gave in and bought a coffee (£1.70). 6 hours is a l...o...n...g time! Marks: 7/10

Didn't get the money from my housemates but have a date for the payment. To be honest its not a problem, the longer I don't have it the less I remember it and the more of a bonus when i do get it!! Still, failed really, so marks: 3/10

Food shopping - totally rubbish! Spend lots of money on yummy stuff! At least it will last me a few weeks with only buying the top up stuff (bread and milk and fruit). Spent double my £15 budget though so marks: 5/10

    £2 coin collection: got £4, yippee!! Think I deserve a 9/10 there!!

So thats a grand total of 24/40, oh dear

    Challenges for next week:

Again, take food and drink for 6 hour train journey (quite a commute hey! long story  ) to avoid pricey food but maybe allow a coffee :rotfl:

Only buy absolute essentials foodwise to make up for last week. Am staying with parents from wednesday onwards so shouldn't be too hard!

Keep checking to see if there will be another 5p listing day on ebay any time soon!

Contribute at least £4 to my £2 coin savings (without spending just to get change :rotfl: ).

Best of luck with your challenges everyone!

Question: Shall we have a new one of these threads each week (like the "how much have you spent") or is it better to keep it all together in one thread? What does the OP think?

Great idea kathfisch! I'll second that one.
