Ive decided that my next weeks challenge is going to be......
To take my lunch into work every day and if I do this Im going to treat myself to Martins book with the money Ive saved. :money:
Im also going to post all my info to the cccs (I cant send it right now as Im still outstanding one document from a creditor)
Anyone else have any challenges for next week?

Hi pixie1
I was just rereading my goals for this past week on this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=143895 and realised that I've done most of them - yeah!
My goals for next week are to:-
*Have a fun week off work but spending as little money as possible. Find cheap or free things to do.
*Put an advert out locally advertising my babysitting services
*List more things on ebay
Good luck with your challenge!
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -
Good luck both of you.
Not sure what my challenge will be, am currently locked in battle with Barclays so hopefully I will resolve this over the next week.Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
good luck with your challenges.
i haven't bought lunch yet this year from the canteen so probably saving a couple of quid a day.
Do you have a microwave at work ?
We only have one microwave in the canteen and on busy days you can be queuing 20 minutes to use it ! I recently invested in an aluminium flask so i take in soup quite a bit now. put what you would spend in the canteen in a jar - use that money to buy stuff to take in for lunch - you will be surprised how quick it mounts up
Cheers

I have a challenge for next week.
I am not massivly in debt, I can manage it, but it will take a little bit of sorting out.
I am paying 1st Credit 2 direct debits of £65 and another £60 each month for a loan and credit card I defaulted on about 4 years ago, when I was made redundant. I should have taken out payment protection but sadly at the time I was a lot younger and a bit more naieve.
I propose to call them and try to get some kind of settlement sorted out, as I now have a fairly well paid job, and as the whole thing is due to be paid off in October hopefully I can come to some kind of deal with them.
The second and more depressing thing I want to sort out is a CCJ I have against me, which is obviously severely affecting my ability to get any credit. At the moment I have an attachment of earnings for £60 a month which I have been paying for 2 years or so. The judgement is for £1789. Origianally the loan was with Black Horse. Would it be worth contacting them, or should everything be done through the county court?
I really wanna get my finances under control as my new years resolution to myself was to try and be debt free by the end of the year.
I would just like to add that all the posters who give advise on MSE are wonderful wonderful people, and you all deserve medals.:money: = LEGEND0 -

tomorrow i will plan all my lunches for the week.***PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT***
Reclaimed my bank charges - got £250 back from HSBC and £88 from First Direct0 -
Excellent Pixie, I am sure you'll do well ! My challenge is to spend less this week and stick within budget. Have allowed ourselves £150 per week to cover food, petrol, pocket money - have never managed it yet!. Week runs from sat-fri, so far we have spent £64.13. OH and I are hoping to have a couple of days out together this week - to the cinema and out for a pub lunch. Today should be another no spend day, here's hoping.......Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0

My goals for this week are:-
- To take a packed lunch to work every day. managed it for most of last week but not every day.
- Not to make any unnecessary purchases.
- To keep up spending diary (really shows you were the money is going!)
- To work out what to do when my egg anniversary period is up end of march. I applied for an A&L credit card but was rejected! Will wait to the letter arrives and will then try and appeal it. Fingers crossed because it makes me sick to think of paying interest when there are 0% offers out there.

Hi there
I think this is a great thread so thought I'd join in!
My plan is to make sandwiches and a drink for my 6 hour train journey on tuesday, thereby avoiding expensive train food!
I also want to get the £86 each that two of my housemates owe me (I pay all the bills) and put it straight in my savings. Been a few weeks since I paid it and have kept bank balance ok despite it so I figure its not needed right now, thats £172 bonus to my savings!!
When I get home I need to do a food shop, will challenge myself with a small budget and continue to use up the contents of the cupboard and freezer.
Best of luck everyone with your challenges!!
Editted to say: will also attempt to get my £2 coin collection started, bit pathetic at the mo :rotfl:Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs.
