just when it couldn't get any worse..

Options
Well had my interview with PayPlan and they recommended i tried to get my creditors to accept a min payment of £1 until i've finished paying off my council tax (money going striaght out of my wages) and then set up an iva with them.. so was just starting to feel good about things and i find out that some of my creditors didn't get the letters informing them i'd moved..

so made some calls this afternoon and just found out i've got 3 or more ccjs against me all expecting payments by the end of Jan..

I really don't know what to do now.. seriously considering just going bankrupt on my own but don't know if this will pay off the ccjs or not ??!!

really hating life right about now.. haven't even got £1 to pay the lottory tonight lol

  • Sorry to hear you are feeling this way. I do not know anything about CCJ's or Bankruptcy but I am sure someone with some good advice will come along soon.

    Hi ya CD02,

Haven't read your last thread? How much did/do you owe in total? (or tell me where to look).

I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry too much. At the end of the day your creditors can't have what you haven't got. Just concentrate on your priority debts as they are the most important - ie council tax.

As longer as you send a financial statement to your creditors and enclose you £1 offer as well the worst they can do is say no. Then you just do the same again and again until they get the message.

The best one I had was a car that was repossessed. We owed about £1500.00. It went to court got a CCJ to be paid off at £10 a month. Anyway a while later things went dreadfully wrong again and I actually got the CCJ down to £1 a month.

I sent a cheque every month and requested a receipt for the £1 by return. In the end they got so fed up we settled on a £200 payment as full and final settlement.

It's a pain keep writing and writing but you can beat them in the end.

    Chin up mate

    Hope that helps

It might be worth contacting your local citizens advice bureau to arrange to see a debt adviser. I personally prefer to talk to people face to face.

If it comes to it they can even help you to apply for bankruptcy and have contacts that may possibly enable you to apply for a grant for the fee.
They should definitely be able to give you advice re. the CCJs anyway.

    Good luck

  • Now this is meant to sound positive and to pick you up so sorry if you take it the wrong way! :rotfl:

Your credit rating is shot to pieces anyway so another 3 CCJ's isn't gonna make much difference!

Don't be distracted from your aim to become debt free. You can and will do it!

As for the lottery, you wouldn't have won anyway so look at it as £1 saved! :T :j

How many CCJ's does it take to make a difference? I've got 1 and it seems to make a big difference to me.

What I meant was that even with one CCJ your credit file is damaged to the extent that you won't (or find it very very hard to) get any new credit!

So the fact you may have 3 or 4 won't make any difference in that respect! :D

When you say it wasn't her fault?

If she was on the credit agreement then she is responsible for the debt aswell!

if you are jointly and severaly liable fo a debt with you such as a co signee on a credit agreement then i'm afraid she is as reponsible as you are in law. Hence getting the CCJ with you. If that is the case then there is little hope of getting it removed from her credit file.Sorry
