My friend's electoral roll problems

My friend has had an offer accepted for a house, and has 25% deposit...
He and his girlfriend tried for a mortgage, she was fine, but they were declined because he was not found on the electoral roll. He lives in rented accommodation, where his bank details, drivers license etc are. He is on the electoral roll at his parent's house, and they say he doesn't exist there. He's getting a lot of grief for this... How can he sort this out? is there any way of getting around it?

Put your post code in http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/ and it will tell you who to register with and who to contact to tell you if you are already registered.
Useful for moving home too.

I have faced this problem with clients several times, mainly with Northern Rock. He can obtain a letter from his Electoral Registration Office where he is registered, really his adviser should be helping him with this.0 -
We had a similar problem and our broker was instrumental in sorting it out by talking to a contact of us personally at the lender and explaining the situation.0
