Waitrose vs. Ocado - what's the difference?

Hello,
I've found some canned John West tuna chunk offers with Ocado.
http://www.ocado.com/webshop/getSearchProducts.do?entry=tuna&tags=|1120
Unfortunately Ocado is not delivering into my area.
Its webpage is suggesting instead to have a go with Waitrose.
My question: Do they have the same offers resp. prices?
Thank you,
Banana Joe (who also likes tuna)

There's no Waitrose branded delivery service. It's a partnership with Ocado. So you'd need to visit a branch to find offers that aren't available on Ocado.0

There is a service called WaitroseDeliver which is different to Ocado. WD doesn't deliver in some areas (i.e. mine) but Ocado does. Haven't done price comparisons but here's the url. https://www.waitrosedeliver.com0

Hi banana-joe,
As this is a shopping question I've moved it across to the shop but don't drop board where the shopping experts should be able to help.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

All I know is 'Watrose Deliver' has the same prices and offers as Waitrose instore and gets picked in a store so you can buy loose fruit & veg and stuff from a counter. On Ocado they only sell pre packed items and the doesn't come from a store but a warehouse.
In terms of price, some branded things you see on Ocado are price matched at Tesco levels so can be cheaper than Watrose. As a rule of thumb when something is on special offer on one it is on offer at the other one at the same time, although on rare occasions the offer might be slightly different.
If you live nearish to a Waitrose store than you are likely to be able to use Waitrose Deliver, if you don't and Ocado have built a large warehouse in you region then that is the one to use. If neither then you can't buy from them, which it probably a lot of the UK.0 -
My OH works for Waitrose so here are your differences:
WaitroseDeliver is shopped & delivered from the store near to you, however this can be some miles away so don't be put off thinking there is not on close to you it'sworth checking the Waitrose site. The prices and offers will be exactly the same as in the store, and you can pick from non-packed items i.e. loose meat, cheese, breads / cakes & fruit, veg and others. Waitrose policy is to price match major staple items with those of Tesco / Sainsbury's however their own brand stuff is not price matched. Anything delivered wrong or damaged will be refunded without question, or it can be re-shopped if really bad and your desperate!
Ocado - a totally seperate business from JLP (although they have a interest in it) it is Waitrose food, but all prepacked, so you can only order packs of things like veg etc... Pricing is matched to Tesco for most items, so potentially could be cheaper than Waitrose, but you normally have less delivery slots and you do not get the same offers that the Waitrose stores have, which is one to be careful of. Their pricing is totally different. Staff are not JLP partners and I have found them not to be as helpful when things go wrong. As for damaged and missing items they normally are very good and will refund the items, but I have not known them re-shop for you.
If you have the choice of the two, I would always opt for WaitroseDeliver just because it seems a better service. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
