Speed Camera database - won't be free much longer...

Even the most conscientious driver can make mistakes in some of the ambigious 30-40 and 50-70 limits. These are not urban streets or outside schools etc, but often dual carriageways with a bewildering array of signs and other clutter, combined with numerous speed limit changes.Happy chappy0

After all, this must be free so it is maybe possible to make your own POIs instead of relying on the pocketgps one?
There's a clue in the first post where they say "Anyone who contributed a speed camera location before 2006 gets it for free".
Basically they rely on the public to send in the locations of speed cameras that we notice aren't in their database.
I've added a good few over the last year or so, and now I'm very pleased that I did.Marillion - A Better Way of Life.0 -

Hi,
I work in the security services and have high level access to the Police National Speed Camera Database.
No, Im not the son of a deposed Nigerian dictator, who has millions in the bank but needs your help or one of the other scammers, but if you find the link was of use, you can always pop a donation into the British heart foundation.
Just click the link, then click ask for a log in code, Then quiet simply enter your registration number. The database will check your vehicle number against the entire speed camera database and inform you if the vehicle has been checked and a prosecution is pending, or even if it has been checked but under the prosecution thresh-hold ? You will also get a photograph of your vehicle, driver and passenger ? Husbands beware, the photo's are very good nowadays, and the passenger can be easily identified
Please keep this quiet or I may face sanctions at work. Hope it helps, and if it made your artieries work, then remember the British Heart Foundations :rotfl:

polybear, do you have the Garmin POI software installed on your PC? If not, download it from the Garmin site. Once you've got that installed, download the speed camera database from the pocketgps website, then go into the single files folder. In there, you'll find a folder called "Garmin". Plug your garmin into your PC. POI loader should start up automatically. Use the POI loader to locate and load the garmin folder you've just found. That's it.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.
