Sorry if this is old news, but I've just seen that the speed camera database, currently free to download, but from February (exact date tba) is going to be introducing charges of £2 per month or £19 per year. (free for anyone whos contributed a camera location before 2oo6)
Currently its free to download from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php
- the file is
http://www.pocketgpspoi.com/downloads/pocketgps_uk_sc_dec05.zip
It's an excellant service, so I've no objection to paying for updates, but still worth having the latest free one, hence this post

Depends what you actually mean jakemuk, your b2 isn't a navigation system as well!
The combination of this database and tomtom is a sat nav system with speed camera warnings.
This database is well worth having for £2, so as a free download its VERY good value for all of us that run navigation systems.Fiscally responsible or just a tight git? :

Here's a new scheme for avoiding being caught out by speed cameras, it's easy to use and free.
Don't speed!
Generally this works. Okay, I'll admit that sometimes they screw up and issue a tractor with a ticket for driving at highly unlikely speeds, and sometimes people aren't issued tickets when they should be. Ultimately though you shouldn't break the law in the first place and so shouldn't have to faff about worrying about speed cameras.... ;-)0 -
Does anyone know where they get the speed camera position data in the first place in order to make these POIs?
After all, this must be free so it is maybe possible to make your own POIs instead of relying on the pocketgps one?0 -
sorry to be a thicky!!
What is this?

I think this is stupid charging for the service. Its a user created database to begin with and whats to stop people downloading it then re-distributing it?
I will believe it when I see it, but if it is true then they are obviously trying to make money from it. Other than the hosting (its a really small download) there won't be any associated costs with it.
If anyone is wondering about using it then is is brilliant just upload it to your tomtom, enable it and set the warnings then when you come in range of a speed camera/mobile location/red light camera it warns you. However careful you drive this is a brilliant thing to have.0
