Hi Debtfree Just looked at a couple of pages of this thread - shame it's gone quiet as I think it could be useful. I'd be happy to subscribe.0

Was skimming through "The Modern Preserver" the other day.... anyone doing anything interesting?
Recently I've been pickling Jerusalem artichokes; pickling wild garlic flower buds; freezing chopped wild garlic stems to throw a handful into recipes throughout the year. Not sure the last one really counts as preserving, but it works for me!0 -

I made Rhubarb and Ginger Jam at the weekend, nice easy jam to make. Was the first ever jam I learned to make.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Ooh, snap! I have just made rhubarb and ginger (used stem ginger) jam.
Last year i used frozen fruits of the forest, bought on offer,. And I added a big splash of cassis - that made lovely jam
My all time favourite is apricot jam! Just the smell of it cooking is delicious.
Am crossing my fingers that a friend gives me some Victoria plums later on, and another will have damsons.:)
Have to confess I have never preserved any savoury things, yet. .. ... ...I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Oh Valli and MMF007, DH loves rhubarb and ginger jam. I feel a batch coming on!
My first jam was raspberry - impossible to go wrong! 2 ingredients - jam & sugar and same amount of each!
I make lemon curd quite often - in the microwave. Lemons are on offer again in Lidl, but I still have a jar to use, so I'll leave them this time.Sewing 88/COLOR]Woollies 19Card s 91Reading 37/400 -
I make jams, jellies & chutneys...one of our faves is rhubarb & ginger, and another is runner bean chutney (uses up a glut!). DH also makes chilli sauce.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
