What can I say but WOW! I made my first ever batch of seville orange marmalade last weekend and finally sampled it tonight. Delicious! OH says it doesn't have a very strong flavour but I think its because he is used to the refined rubbish from the supermarket made with concentrated orange juice.
A nice bitter tang and a softish set (I am still erring on the side of caution when it comes to testing for set and in some respects I prefer it like that rather than rubbery)0 -
Hi kiwiblue
This is probably not much use but the plums could be bottled, jammed or made into chutney.
If I had my cookbooks down from the loft (we have just moved), I would be more help.0 -
I did try to find my recipe for spiced plum chutney but couldnt find it. I liked it because there werent too many ingredients yet the flavour was incredible. Lucky you having all those fruits at hand x“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

If you can get hold of a book called 'All Good Things Around Us' by Pamela Michael you'll find some unusual preserve recipes - Pickled Ash Keys, Hawthornberry Chutney, Rowan Jelly, as well as more well known like Rose Hip and Crab Apple jelly. oooh just found a 'wild white-nettle shampoo' recipe too
Another book worth checking out is The Magic Apple Tree by Susan Hill, a few nice recipes in that one too - spiced plums, damson cheese etc, and its a lovely read.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Dang! I knew someone would ask and I've lost my original recipe -it was probably in my slow cooker manual which has long since gone along with the slow cooker.
But, not to worry google to the rescue and I've come up with this excellent article;)0 -

Hi Thriftlady
I have bought everything I need for the onion marmalade in the RC book. When you make it, do you slice your onions in the food processor or chop them by hand?
Thanks0
