Update on Tesco's & Visa Electron

I will give it a go at the tesco pay at pump this weekend with my co-op visa electron and let you know how i get on.

Hi Costus from what I've heard Tesco's are doing a revamp of their systems at the end of Feb so you might have to wait another month! No harm trying though! If anyone has a moment they could always send an e-mail to Tesco's customer services asking when they are going to up date the system - if a few more people pull on Tesco's chain about the Electron Card, they may get off their a***** and do it!!

Hopefully if lots of us e-mail,write or phone they will pull their fingers out of their "u no wots"!!!!! I know lots of people hate Tesco's but I really miss not being able to do my shopping on-line with them.

I had been happily using my electron card online for ages, Asda, Sainsburys, Amazon, Argos all accept it quite happily (yes I do EVERYTHING online ), so it was a bit of a shock to go to Tesco, there was a problem with the till and the rudest, most unpleasant Tesco employee I have ever had the misfortune to encounter, shouted very loudly "it's not a proper card she'll (meaning me) have to go to the customer services desk to sort it out. Has she got a proper card with money on it?" Red faced I went to customer services desk, told them not to bother and left the shop. I didn't go back for three years!

Wow! I'm gobsmacked by your treatment! I can honestly say that I've never had a problem with my Co-op Electron in store at Tesco's! I hope you fired off a letter to the H/Q or the Store manager about your treatment! I suspect it was just a rotten apple, unforunately all stores have them and if customers don't report them they don't get dumped out of the barrel so too speak!

I've just sent an email to Tesco complaining via the link above- thankyou Jaynee123.
If we all email it may 'encourage' them to move quicker and change to except via electron...
come on forum members lets get on the case!

oh, and blooming Asda 'pay at pump' they don't accept visa electron... doesn't make sense given that its a debit card so they are able to take the money directly out of our bank accounts!

I'm sorry that you're unhappy that we do not accept Visa Electron Cards as a method of payment in our online stores. I can appreciate how disappointing this must be for you.
Unfortunately, Electron Cards were not originally designed for use online, this is due to the issuers insisting that the cardholder had to present at the time of the transaction.
This situation has recently changed and Electron cards can now be used online. However, at present our site is still unable to accept these cards as a method of payment.

Incidently, I tried to use a 'Tescos own' giftcard worth £100 for online groceries and Tesco wouldn't accept it online. What nonesense, guess we ought to vote with our feet and shop online elsewhere that do accept our payment of choice!

Hurrah! I've queried this several times and all they would say was that it was something to do with the signature. No didn't make sense to me either.
