I used my co-op card at Tescos last week, that is an Electron. Been using it at Tescos for the last month.

Hi dont know what work you have already been doing Jaynee but if its helped Tesco to finally upgrade their system then thank you!
I hate not being able to do my shopping online, and have recently had a big problem with a refund from Tesco direct, as apparently they cant automatically process refunds with electron cards, but have to do some sort of manual refund?? All the while Ive been left short of money, and a cheque or gift card would atke @6weeks to get sent out!! Its flamin ridiculous! And I am sending a letter of complaint to them....not that it will do much good!
Well done again...hopefully wont be long before we can use it0 -
I haven't really done much just sent Tesco's a letter basically asking why we can use our Co-op Electron card on-line at Sainsburys and Asda as well as HMV,Play.com,Argos etc but not at Tesco's on-line.
Tesco's replied this week that they will be changing their systems soon to allow us to use the Electron Card but this still doesn't explain why they have been so slow at changing their systems! Bailsey 27 works at Tesco's H/Q and said that they are very tight with their money and perhaps they don't want to spend out on changing the system? Seems short-sighted to me in the present financial climate but we will just have to keep pushing them!
I'm going to e-mail Moneybox (Radio 4) to see if they could raise the question with Tesco's and I e-mailed The Lunch time money programme BBC2(sorry can't remember it's title)last Thursday so they might hassle Tesco's for us? We will just have to keep up the pressure.

Good stuff, thanks for letting us all know about Tescos online changes.
The Electron card is pretty good in everyday use, i find the biggest pain with it is not being able to use it at tescos pay at the pump.
I work nights and our local Tescos petrol station is so packed during the daytime that i don't fancy queuing for 20 minutes, but it isn't attended at night, so therefore i cannot use it when its quiet due to my electron card.
I have to drive 3 miles down the road and pay more for my petrol.
Any idea if Tescos will be making a change at their pay at pumps?
I tend to use my prepaid Paypal debit card everytime i shop online, although it costs me £1 everytime i want to load some money onto it, but its been accepted for everything i've tried to buy online so far.0 -
Hi Costus, I would imagine that if they update their systems for on-line this will also include pay at the pump - When I do the e-mail for moneybox I'll mention it!

MessageI tried to use my Visa card (not electron) for petrol at a tesco express this morning. It was rejected. I asked the attendant to contact the credit agency and was told by them that they do not accept American credit cards. I was unaware that my card was an American based card as it is issued by Barclays.co.uk and I'm billed by the firm from southend on sea. When I asked to speak with the agency they declared that they do not speak with the customer only the salesperson. Luckily I had another card to pay the bill.
I thought 'Visa' was accepted worldwide.
What would my position be if I had no other means to pay? There are no signs indicating limited usage of some cards.0 -

I've used mine at Pay at the pumps at Tesco's - doesn't work at Shell though, and at Asda you have to go through the kiosk, you can't use the pay at pump there.Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000
