Thought it was time...
To give a little background.
I'm 36, and live with my lovely OH. (But you probably gathered that already.)
Nearly 7 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. At the time, it was thought to be terminal. I gave up work and threw myself into treatment. (As a teacher, I couldn't risk damaging a reduced immune system, and as I was supplying, I wasn't entitled to sick pay, though I did have my benefit payments while I was ill.) Thankfully, things went so well, that eventually they were able to remove the massive tumour, and after a bit more chemo, I was well enough to resume normal life! :T
I built up my supply, and then returned to work full time for a year. This ran me down totally, but got my bank balance etc healthy.
However, when my contract ended, and I returned to supply, I sort of forgot to acknowledge that I was earning £15000 less PA than before. (oops!) Thankfully, I haven't let my debt get hugely out of hand, and I know it will be gone by the end of the year.
Working as a supply has left my OH and me to have time together, and appreciate what we have - which after the few years of my illness, is so important to us. Things don't go unpaid, because he earns a good wage. He is fine with me not paying anything towards the mortgage, which is good... And I hope that eventually I can start contributing again.
So, that's where I'm coming from.
Things are not the best at the moment. OH's younger brother was diagnosed with a brain tumour last March. He has had 6 months of treatment (as well as having a lump of brain cut out of his head.) Last week, his latest scan showed that a portion of tumour is still present in his brain. As you can imagine, we're all devasted. He is keeping pretty upbeat about it, but me and OH are his main support (apart from his mum). Not only is it upsetting because things haven't gone the way we hoped, it also brings up some pretty nasty memories for me, and OH has the heartbreak of seeing a second person he loves fight an awful condition. Sort of puts money problems into perspective.

It's been a quiet day today. No work
But I am booked up for the rest of the week
AND for an extra pub shift at the weekend. :T (Will be a very quiet shift for a few hours - ample opportunity to read a book or 2...
)
Hasn't been a NSD today. I've spent £2.70 on a couple of top-up things. Will have to go the shop again in a couple of days, as we have friends for dinner, and I want to cook a yummy stew. (I'm hoping that there'll be enough left to freeze for another day!) However, I have put in a mileage claim for £83 today. :T
Got a bit of hassle with tax... just got my new tax code, and they seem to think I'm 'inbetween jobs.' I need to sort this out. Called twice today - the first time, I pressed the wrong button on the phone after 7.45mins and managed to cut myself off. The second time, I got through (after another 8 minutes of holding) and again, managed to get cut off just after I'd confirmed my date of birth. I didn't have the energy to try again, so I had a (not very DFW) bath, and will try again tomorrow.
This week, I intend to get into the world of Quidco - Flying-Fresian has inspired me to give things a go... and earn lots of lovely cashback!
Tomorrow should be a NSD. Wish me luck!

Hi Rachee and welcome aboard
You have had a rough ride but seem to be coping remarkably well. Best of luck with your adoption plans - it is a very generous thing to do.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
Oh wow oh wow oh wow!
I've just realised that by the end of next week I will have £500 less debt AND £100 more savings. :T However, I've decided to update my signature when I get my CC statement, because then it will be more accurate.
Is a NSD today
All is good.
Need to start sorting things out for a massive car boot sale... It could take a while, there's so much I could sell!
