Men's suit for interview - 50 inch chest!

DH will be looking for work soon and doesnt have a suit. We are on a teeny budget, was wondering about Matalan or George (ASDA) or Tesco. Any advice welcome.

Ooops, didnt realize he is well outside "normal" size. I guess we are doomed to shop in the "wide and tall" shops!

My son has to wear suits in the sixth form at school and I bought two from Matalan. We looked at Asda and Tesco but we prefered Matalan as the quality looked better. They are washable too.

I know a few people who wear Matalan suits for work and they think that they are great.

  • Or Primark - or Tesco!

An inexpensive brand new/sparkling clean suit is likely to look much better for an 'ordinary' interview than a good quality but battered suit, IMHO.

If you're going for a high-powered interview in the City or at Buckingham Palace, you will be better of going to a charity shop for a named suit, and having it cleaned :p

choices the outlet for next if you have one near you also sell some good quality suits, afterall if he gets the job he will need to invest in a suit, I personally think its something that you get what you pay for and a good quality suit will last considerable time without looking shabby.
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!
  • I'd recommend buying a cheap one from the places already suggested. The important thing is that it is always clean and pressed - I notice that kind of thing when I'm interviewing men but could never guess whether the suit was Matalan's best or Armani, and I think that goes for most interviewers.
The point about buying a good suit so it can be worn in a job is a good one, but most young men these days wear separates or their office chair wears the suit jacket all day.

How about charity shops? We have just sent 2 suits to the charity shop that were practically brand new.
