EDF won't give me my nectar points

Hi I switched my EDF account to Scottish Power and found I had 14000 nectar points. I gave them my nectar number and they said they were transferring them as we spoke.
A few months later I noticed they were still not on my account. On ringing them they they are unable to allocate any points as my fuel account is finalised. They are offering my £5 to cover monetary value. Is there a way I can get points as I earned them and then discover due to their inefficiencies the points were not transferred.
I haven't cashed cheque yet.
Thanks all
