I am trying my best to remain positive - as a sufferer of depression I have made it one of my resolutions to try and be more upbeat and positive and try to have a better outlook on life :)
    Excellent approach.

Babe, have you considered how you are going to keep your mortgage up when you want to start a family if you're already squeezed now?

Perhaps you should consider getting a lodger in or something to start building up a financial cushion?

In all honesty CFC, it's just wishful thinking, deep down I know we never can...but stay positive eh? :)

I am in the same situation as you. Our fixed rate of 5.38% is due to end with Nationwide in March 09, bought the house for £114,950 in Jan 07 with a £109, 200 mortgage. We dont have enough LTV to get another so we are planning to go on the SVR (currently 4% with Nationwide).

We are also VERY worried about rates going back up but are just going to play it by ear, get the mortgage down and hope theres some kind of warning of when rates are likely to go back up..
