Hello everyone,
Hate to hijack a thread, just thought i would say hi...
I'm 21, and did have around £4K worth of debt last month when i finally got serious. Although if i go back to a year i probably had about £10k worth of debt which i managed to wipe by selling a car...
I got into debt because me and my Hubby 2 b moved in together, he was living in MK at the time and come down to essex so had to leave his job, he did have a job confirmed for him to start, but the companie went bust so we ended up getting credit to pay for things until he got a job.
So now, as of todays date, we have £1330 debtwhich although is still quite a bit to some, i am proud of us for getting it down to that! Plus its not too much, is it? I hope!!
Hope your all doing ok with the debt clearing!!BCT:[strike]£16,500 [/strike] £0 HFC CURRYS: [strike]£520[/strike] £0 HFC PC WORLD: [strike]£800[/strike] £0 ARGOS CARD: [strike]£795[/strike] £0 ADDITIONS DIRECT: [strike]£625[/strike] £0 NATIONWIDE CC: [strike]£1560[/strike] £0 VIRGIN CC: [strike]£1500[/strike] £0 :j0 -
Ooo also, i have recently started to get ID'd.
I have been drinking in pubs since was 14.. SO i dont exactly look young. To be honest some people think i look about 27!!! (Its the glasses) so i suppose its a compliment now that i am getting ID'd - just very annoying when you dont have any on you and you have to leave it there... How shameful!!BCT:[strike]£16,500 [/strike] £0 HFC CURRYS: [strike]£520[/strike] £0 HFC PC WORLD: [strike]£800[/strike] £0 ARGOS CARD: [strike]£795[/strike] £0 ADDITIONS DIRECT: [strike]£625[/strike] £0 NATIONWIDE CC: [strike]£1560[/strike] £0 VIRGIN CC: [strike]£1500[/strike] £0 :j0 -
Well done everyone.
I have asked many times on how you have managed to pay off thousands in a few months, no one has answered me yet - lol. I am literally dying to know how, please share xxx0 -
Smarties84, I literally stopped shopping!!!
I didnt realise how much money i wasted! Mostly on food, i use all spare money for debts, i know its quite dull for a few months, but we have treated ourselves to sky so we watch movies etc if we get bored and have alcohol n friends over etc - i still go shopping just dont buy anything!! And i know its only for a few months.
I am very much like i would rather have nothing than a little bit of something, like with food!! I would rather cut out chocolate altogether, rather than have one bar a week or something - because i cant stop. So if i dont buy anything i cant carry on spending!!
Plus with it coming up to xmas, if theres anything i REALLY want i ask for off mummy n daddy lol - but then we are engaged and saving for a wedding, so when i am tempted i think actually i would rather that £30 (or soemthing) for the wedding to use on this or that, rather than on another pair of shoes..BCT:[strike]£16,500 [/strike] £0 HFC CURRYS: [strike]£520[/strike] £0 HFC PC WORLD: [strike]£800[/strike] £0 ARGOS CARD: [strike]£795[/strike] £0 ADDITIONS DIRECT: [strike]£625[/strike] £0 NATIONWIDE CC: [strike]£1560[/strike] £0 VIRGIN CC: [strike]£1500[/strike] £0 :j0 -
24, Graduated with a lot of overdraft and credit card with no actual grasp on what borrowing was and now finding out the hard way how to pay it back!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
But somehow I'm going to get my sexy back and soon I'll be...
 and boogying and jumping to my own tune of happiness!
Also having massive trouble finding a permanent job! :rotfl: This is one of the reasons that I'm getting into this kind of trouble. Whenever I start breaking into my debt, my contract ends and it takes weeks to get back into another one!
2009 will be different! Look I have signatures to show it and everything! :T:beer: Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!
Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!
How do you amass £70k in a year?! :eek:0 -
Hiya I'm 22 and I joined this site when I was 21 but I had started paying stuff off by then and I think my debt was at its worst when I was about 19.
I got in debt because I had to help out my parents and my OH who is also crap with money and to pay for our wedding almost 3 years ago. Between us we have both got better thanks to the wonderful people on this site.DFW Nerd No: 758  Proud to be dealing with my debts!:T Proud mum to Bon-Scott my amazing 10/10/10 baby0 -

Long may it continue!!
I get id'd all the time, even though i'll be 22 in Jan!
I never got id'd when i was 16/17/18 though lol.
I love it when i get id'd for fags though and they just look at me like i'm studpid until i show them, and they are like oh right...sorry lol!0 -

This seems to be a recurring pattern...
Now all we need to do is get a few diaries going or use this as a diary, everyone join the £20,000 in 2009 and we'll all be debt free by December! :T:beer: Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!

My debt started in my second year of uni. I'd worked abroad that summer so my loan was late coming. I remember getting an overdraft for the first time and thinking "that's it, debt for life!"
Over the last three and bit years I have consoildated and consoildated and it wasn't until I got on this site two months ago that I realised how silly I had been.
I read these words "There are only two ways to get out of debt, one is to earn more and the other is to spend less" I know its so blooming simple and obvious but it really hadn't sunk in til then!:o
Still onwards and upwards my lovely's!
