I Can't Cope

Hello there

I thought i would write you a quick message this morning to see how you are and to say that i am currently new to this message board.

I thought i would come on here and ask for some advice because i am really struggling to cope with my debts etc.

At the moment i am using my overdraft in both of my bank accounts to help pay towards direct debits and rent, and this means that i am never in the plus.

I honestly don't know how to cope because i have never been in debt before.

  • Hi and welcome to the forum.

Firstly, don't panic! I'm sure theres a solution to your problem. Someone, no doubt, will post the link shortly for you to complete your SOA. That enables everyone to have a look and come up with suggestions to help.

Also, have you spoken to someone such as the CAB or CCCS. They can advise you on the best course of action.

    ((hugs))

Don't worry Samantha. You'l get lots of help here; the SOAs are a really good way to see where you're overspending or where you can make changes. Sound slike you don't have too much debt yet so well done for getting to it quickly. Looking forward to seeing your SOA!
  • Hello there

I thought i would write you a quick message this afternoon to see how you are and to say thank you for the lovely messages which you have sent me, because it really does mean a lot.

I have used the link which was provided and it seems that i have more money coming in then i have money going out, which is good.

The only problem which i have is that i am always using my over draft to help pay direct debits and bills.

For example, last night i was using my over draft to help me get by (-£800) and then i got paid this morning (£800) so my bank account then had a total of £0.00

But i don't get paid now for another fortnight now which means that by that date more direct debits will have come out so i will end up using the overdraft again.

It is just a vicious circle.

Might be worth posting your SoA up on here to let the DFW's take a look at it?

It's incredible how much they can reduce people's personal expenditure without making too many sacrifices either :)

  • hi Samantha - everyone on the DFW is really lovely, I have some amazing friends on here.

If you fill it all in, then at the bottom press the MSE button with Martin's piccy on it converts it for you.

Let's see your SOA Samantha - the fact that you have a surplus is a good thing.

Don't worry about your overdraft too much before people have had a chance to offer advice. It's quite likely that you'll dip in and out of an overdrawn state between paydays etc. It's a fairly normal thing for someone who's clearing an overdraft over a period.

One useful tip for when you've got your finances reigned in a little might be to ask your bank/s to automatically reduce the limit each month over time. My gf tried this and even a drop of £50/mth acted as a wonderful psychological booster to her to cut the debt.
