  • I let mine choose what to put in the loft, what to keep and what to get rid of that way the decision was theirs. Every 6 months they were asked if they wanted to swap anything over from the loft to bedroom but if they brought anything down something had to go up in its place.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I sorted out my Godsons room and his elder brothers room for his parents :) they were pulling their hair out with it so i offered and they let me do what i thought was best.

First of all i got black bin bags and labels and a pen , i let Caleb (aged9) and Joe aged 3 choose toys that they didnt like , i also told them they would have more new stuff from santa at chrismtas if they had space ready for it. I let them write on the labels , the more stuff the put in the bags for charity the more labels they wrote on which they liked.

I also let them make their own quiet area , (Cheap bin bag , box with books and blanket) i used every drawer space i could so their clothes were easy to get too , dvds were stacked neatly between their two drawers , i put a drawstring bag with favourite toys on the bed (bunk beds so it hooked on) got a cheap £1.00 pop up basket and put that in their for dirty laundry and also got them a cheap mental bin.
I stuck up some new posters so it re vamped the room abit , and gave the kids a reward for being kind and giving to charity.

    So my main tips

-Let them do the main decicsion makin
-If you have labels let them write on it (makes them feel more important)
-Put a couple of new posters up just to add a "new" feel too the room
-Put things out the way like hang a bag with not so much used toys in the wardrobe.
-Put things they dont use much now but might in the future in the loft , or stack some where neatly and off the floor.
-Use counting and guessin games whilst doing it to distract the kids from actually giving away their stuff.

Hope that helps(im not a mum but a childminder with young relatives lol)
