Pension from husband's contributions.

My husband (66) currently has an additional amount on his state pension for me as I have no income. I understand that when I turn 60 this will then be paid to me.

I will be 60 next month but have had no correspondance from the pension people. Do I have to claim this pension to have it paid to me? If so how do I do this?

Contact the Pension Service and ask.

alhough he claims something for you now as you have no income, as far as i know you can claim a pension on 60% of his contributions, when you hit 60, this will be your pension. I would have thought you should have heard from them by now.
    as EdInvestor says, contact them.

You get 60% of the full state pension, which is £90.70 at present. 60% of that is £54.42.

If he dies, or if you get divorced, you can claim 100% of the full state pension, £90.70 a week.

I have now downloaded a claim form to send in. Tried to do it on line but half way through it kept "freezing" and I could not complete it.

I did ring them and was told that the extra he gets will automatically stop when I am 60 and I need to claim, though nobody could tell me why I had not got a letter about it.

As OH only has 37 years NI contributions, he has a reduced pension, so my 60% is also reduced.

I could also have done a telephone claim, which apparently takes 15 munutes, but as I got cut off at that point, I decided not to ring the 0845 number again!

The freephone number given on "saynoto0870" is only if you are also entitled to pension credit apparently.

Surely it's worth ringing the 0845 number and persevering for that amount of money if you haven't got entitlement of your own?

I have sent in a claim by "snail mail", I would have to send marriage certificate anyway, even though they had it when OH claimed!
