Anyone know what happened to Goldfish loans?

We've got a loan from Goldfish which we took out about a year ago, on the understanding that we could repay it early without any charges.

Anyway, when I went to their website to try and get a contact number I got redirected to the Barclays site. I had to google it to find out that they took over Goldfish a couple of months ago. Ok, I know it was probably all over the financial pages but I don't really read stuff like that so had no idea - I would have expected a letter or something to let their customers know?

What I wanted to know was whether we could overpay just a bit of this loan, or if it was only valid to do for the whole balance outstanding. Anybody know? Also I have a whole load of new questions now - as Barclays have taken over, will my conditions stay the same (ie I can still pay off early without penalty), is my account number even still the same as I haven't been sent anything different. I haven't heard anything from either Goldfish or Barclays since before I took out the loan over a year ago, but the direct debit comes out of my account every month, does this sound right?

Just not used to having a loan, and kind of feel like I've been forgotten about! Or is it just a case of you only hear from lenders if you miss a payment? :rolleyes:

Was the facility to repay early listed in the paperwork when you took out the loan? Did it say about making overpayments?

As you've not been told any different, I would assume all the terms and conditions would be the same

The account number would be the same and they have obviously managed to keep taking direct debits.

Dig out the paperwork, and see what it says. Also there will be telephone numbers listed, probably worth ringing them? They will probably still work and you can just ask them all your questions?

all goldfish accounts have been assigned to barclays and are still valid - sorry you still owe the money

I have a loan with goldfish loans but have called Barclaycard who say they only purchased the credit card arm and not the loans.

Any ideas who I can contact about the goldfish loan?

It appears on my bank statement as loans direct?

Not all of the loans have been re-assigned to one company. I eventually found my own by speaking to the bank I have my current account with, who provided me with contact details and a reference number for the recipient of my direct debit.

However,

If your loan was transferred to Lloyds TSB, your account number will start with `9999`. Telephone - 0800 096 1345.

If your loan now belongs to Liverpool Victoria, the account number will start with `000111`. Telephone - 01202 292333.
