Rugbymum's SOA Diary

Arghhhh I really need help. Please comment away, but be gentle, I'm feeling a bit fragile after paying £591 garage bill.
This is for myself and three children, two of whom have frequent periods of illness & hospital visits. My finances are complicated so some of the amounts may seem odd. Any questions feel free to ask.

• Electricity: I'm on a pre-payment meter & company won't take it out. I have switched suppliers though & since DS no1 moved out it has HALVED!
Mobile phone: is slowly going down, but it does include broadband.
Car: I live in a rural area, few buses and difficult when ferrying kids to hospital appointments. Some are in Norwich 110 mile round trip. Insurance won't go down any more (i tried), i had a prang two yaers ago & speeding fine this year.
landline: this too is going down, just switched call plan. So it will be 17 from december & using mobile during day.
I can't claim any other benefits. I get "too much maintainence".

Hi rugbymum, well done for posting.

No rent or mortgage?
No council tax?
Can you get a package deal for phone, internet and satellite?
Groceries - can you move down a brand (shops own), have a look at the old style board for meal plan ideas.
The interest on that loan is really not good. Have you tried getting a loan from a credit union or somewhere to get a better rate?
DWP? Is this the DMP that the CCCS payment is going towards?

What is it you were worried we'd be shouting about? I can't see anything there that we would be getting worked up about - unless you forgot to mention the other house you have in Barbados?
After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0

Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/2011

Am on full HB & CT benefits.
I'm tied into mobile & broadband for another 6 months, I think, am in process of checking that out.
Already shop mainly @ Lidl but often have to buy special diet foods for kids that GP WON'T prescribe. Had to fight for some of their meds was told no more!
DWP: had loan from benefits agency a few years ago. I'm not paying anything @ mo cos they are being nice:D
I have asked GP for house in Barbados but he says no.
I don't know where its all going George:confused:

Are you Thetford, Bury or Brandon way? Try changing GP, post on the benefits/invalidity boards regarding help with hospital transport if your kids need that much petrol/transport it should be a mobility issue as basic benefits assume you won't be going anywhere.
