    Commenting, round three! ;)

I will have a look at changing my energy supplier, but tbh, my mum and my best friend have had so many problems after switching to different suppliers, that I'm inclined to stay where I am.
Depends who you change to, sometimes. I'd say do the comparison and if you could save a fair bit, then have a look at customer service ratings too. I'd sooner have customer service than slightly lower prioces, just in case I need it - that;s why nPower weren't on my switch list!

The oil tank cost us about £500 to fill 3/4 full last time, so that's where my estimation of cost comes from! I'm currently trying to save on that by spending little to no time in the house and I don't need heating when i'm sleeping! :D
Sounds like a plan to me! My heating only goes on for 2 hours a day at the moment (1 hour AM, 1 hour PM).

I've been having a look at the brand dropping etc. and think there's definitely savings to be had here! Really have to get back to cooking in bulk and freezing...
Might I recommend a slow cooker for batch cooking? If you don't have one, the Morphy Richards oval 3.5 litre ones are excellent; bought one earlier this year as they were a Which? best buy, and it's been fabulous!

Will look into reducing the sky cost, or into getting freesat - christmas is a-coming and the parents keep asking me what I want! (mind you, if the o/h leaves, i probably wont have a tv to watch as I imagine he'll take that with him! - Bonus - I'd save on sky, and tv license costs!!)
Heh, very true! Might be a bit cheeky to ask for both for Christmas. If you're not a TV-aholic, and wouldn't miss it, bonus! :)

    Off to check out 'snowballing'!

you've been a star! thank you so much!
You're welcome! Oh, and if you did decide you'd like to go for FreeSat, drop me a PM - I'll check out Which? ratings for you :)

  • So, the o/h came home tonight and said "we have to do something about our debts" - wonder if he's been spying on me!

Anyway, after looking at what we owe, and reading up on snowballing and card tarting I decided to apply for another card to transfer the balance of the MBNA (highest apr), and hopefully some of the Barclaycard. 0% until Feb 2010, so gives us a little time to play with. And the MBNA WILL be cut up and cancelled immediately.

He has also said that when he gets his uni travel expenses that will all go to Barclaycard (around £900 - so that with the balance transfer should hopefully clear about 3/4 of that card) All going to plan, Barclaycard should be clear by Easter.

And that will be 1 down - 3 to go!

Capital one will unfortunately be gaining interest by then - found the apr 19.9% (talk about small print!), so will probably look to do a bit more card tarting (I so like that term!) come the summer and concentrate on the next one, and so on.

Feeling a little more positive about it today! And after Christmas, it will be much easier to be a bit more frugal!

Thanks again to everyone for your help!
