Maybe it's already been posted somewhere, to be honest havent looked, but my wife who works for Tesco's was telling me that they've received their newest signs that are to be put up saying that Tesco will be no longer providing free plastic bags. The push will be for bags for life and paying for them. So good on them, it's about time, but also get stocked on some now before they disappear for walking the dog;) get me drift:D

In the latest clubcard mailing (received yesterday) it stated:
"New News on carrier bags!
You've told us you'd like a hand cutting down on bags so you can your bit for the environment. So, as a little encouragement, from November 17th we will no longer display our carrier bags at the checkouts - but they'll still be available if you need them, free of charge of course."0 -

These signs are for the future, not immediate, they normally arrive around 6 months before any biggish changes;)0 -

This is what sainsbury's have been doing for a few weeks, they are under the counter and you have to ask for them. I think its a great idea :T
ETA: btw sainsburys had a sign up at checkouts announcing the new policy a few weeks before it actually started so everyone would be very much aware of it.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

Asda don't have the bags at the counter, but still give them out freely - surely Tesco will have the same policy? Can't see Tesco letting Asda have the advantage there0

Calm down, merely pointing out that free bags would still be available which Im sure ppl would like to know. Your original post suggests that free bags will be totally disappearing imminently which you then acknowledged you knew wasnt the case.0
