Little question re DCA's

Hi all,
I've just recently had a debt transferred to a DCA that I've been dealing with for another debt. However when I contacted them this morning they requested my employers details. Now I don't mind confirming I'm employed full time but I don't wish for them to hold details of my employer on record - are they legally required to have this info or are they just fishing??
They also requested a phone number which I gave them my mobile - they have this already anyway. They then said we have another number for you - can you confirm it? Obviously wanting my house number. I politely asked them to confirm it to me - which thier reply was: "I'm sorry I can't disclose that" I then said well I'm not willing to confirm it the best number to get me on is my mobile...
They then didn't chase it!!
Ooooo crafty... Me thinks
