hello i'm a newbie..

Hi,
I've eventually decided to drop by and say hi :hello:
About a year and a half ago i owed in the region of £27k! I was struggling both financially and personally (long story) so i decided to seek the help of CCCS. They were fantastic and i have paid £8K back so far and hope to be debt free in 3 years, if not sooner.
I just want to say a big thankyou to everyone on this site, like me, there must be so many people reading your advice but not posting..
I admit i was absolutely rubbish with money, if i had £30 in my purse then i'd spend it. Things are still pretty tight (very tight) and i still have my days when i feel so down, how did i get in such a mess, is this all there is to life, etc,, I'm sure you all know what i mean..
I also don't enjoy my job just now, it's really getting me down and making me feel quite stressed, so hopefully in the New Year i will be starting my own small business working from home. I don't need alot of money to start up, i've budgeted for it as it means so much to me..
Anyway, keep giving the great advice, this site has been a godsend to me and has made me realise that we're all on this debt free journey together..
Thankyou for reading!!

Good luck with the business, I've been involved in a few start-ups (worked for lawyers who managed them) and it can be scary, but very worthwhile when it works! Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Hi!
The lack of replies could be because you're doing pretty good on your own lol!
The only thing I would say is can you get your business off the ground while still working - I have no idea what it is but obviously there is an economic slowdown coming so have you thought about whether yours is a 'recession-proof' business?. If you could do it alongside your job or have another part time job to maintain income during the first few tricky months, this would give you a cushion.
My OH left a fairly good job & started a plumbing business 3 years ago but we did not have enough of a financial cushion whilst the business got underway & eventually he went back into the petrochemical industry. The annoying thing is that we still get calls from the leaflets we delivered at the time which seemed to draw no response then! With hindsight, we should have had more cash behind us & started promoting it earlier.
I hope the above helps you & I wish you continued success!SOA = Statement of Affairs (to find a SOA Calculator, google 'make sense of cards' & click on calculators tab > Statement of Affairs)0 -
HI and welcome to the forum!
Don't worry about having slow replies....some times during the day are quite quiet on here.
Well done for clearing so much debt already...you are doing great. Sometimes it is hard but just keep thinking of that day when you will be debt free!
