Evening all,
Had a mass update this evening and its looking great so far this year!!!
Just a few MFW's to mention.....
Seroxat_chick - well done for making your first OP - what a fab achivement :j
Moniker - I cant imagine being sub 30k!!! that must be a great feeling, the MF dream is getting closer...
Violetblue - OMG sub 20k that also is greatwell done, its another milestone to tick off the list and even closer to the MF target... although my mortgage starts with a 1 its just that it has got 6 figures instead of 5 :rotfl:
AM-S - looks like (fingers crossed) you will be paid off before the target you set of xmas 2009 - how good would that be and what an extra special xmas it would make it
rumncoke - youve nearly made your target already :j and we're only 3 OP's into the year - WOW - what an inspiration
mustafa sa ving - dont forget that even if you are unable this month to make a payment, the fact that you've even thought about it and made payments before means that your still in a much better position that you would have been had you never started on the MF journey, and if you can manage even a tiny OP it will keep the momentum going!!!
Gazella - just want to say - a massive WELL DONE for reaching target already :j :j :j and sorryfor not congratulating you on the thread earlier (Thanks to cake for pointing this out) IMO if you can pay off more while the interest is still higher you wont be accumulating as much interest for when the rate drops (IYSWIM) so in the long run you should be better off.....
talana - well done for that huge OP, it may be the first but Im sure it will be the first of many
blueberrypie - I dont blame you for holding on to what you've got until you are more sure of the work situation.... was there any reason that there was no redundancy payment for the other staff??? there are statutory minimums but Im not sure without more info if your OH would qualify (if you want to PM me I'll try to find more info our for you - I work in HR (boo hiss yes I know!!!!)but would be happy to help if I can)
To all those I havent mentioned - WELL DONE - all our OPS added together coming along nicely and we have paid off well over a quarter of a million already :j :j :j - that £1 million target is coming along nicely.
Finally just want to say a warm welcome to whathavewedone and Tesco Points Addict who have both joined our challenge, if you could add your numbers to your sig (or on your PM when you send through your OPs each month) I would be greatful as there are so many of us now its a bit mind boggling looking for everyone
I will update the final March figures and clear the first post ready for the April totals over the weekend so dont forget to send through your March totals to me asap!!
See y'all soon

On a personal note.....
My remortgage and house purchase is coming along nicely, but that does mean that my OP's have slowed up somewhatwhich I find a bit gutting, however I have to console myself with the fact that if I hadnt been OPing for the last 15 months its would have been even worse
I probably wont hit my target but am going to leave it at that to see how close I can get :rotfl: maybe thats stupid, it could so easily have the reverse effect.. onwards and upwards tho!!MFW 2010 Challenge (No 68) - £133.29/ £5000MFITT2 Challenge - (No 181) - Target Reduce mortgage to £130,000Mortgage @ 1.8.09 - £161160  @1.12.09 - £159052  @ 1.2.10 £157,3630 -

i am doing quite poorly so far and have only managed £40 towards my target - shockingly bad! lol. but i have moved house 3 months ago so i forgive myself. had to contend with all those horrible double mortgage payments etc at the beginning and have paid for a whole new roof! got a big electrics job coming up so i dont see much improvement in my OPs for a while but i'm hoping the second half of 2009 will get back on track.
still chuffed & positive thoughhave 2 standing orders going in now and my DH is on board
well done to everyone

Hey Katiegizmo dont fret I think £40 is a good sum of money - every little helps!!
You have done well to pay anything considering the moving and repairs.
Stay positive you will get there. Have you good any clutter from the move that you could sell on Ebay, you'll be amazed what people will pay for, to help boost your April total.

over payed £750 this month. :j ........thought i was going scruggle to get a few pennies together so took money out of ISA as interest rate so low...
keep going everyone no matter how small the amount...this overpaying is really addictive!! :TMFW 158 - Wanna be Mortgage free in 2 years (sept 2010)1st Jan 2008 - Mortgage £30,478.97, Term 6yrs 9m2008 Total OP = £7,859. Mortgage reduced to £15,938.20, Term Reduced by 3yrs 2m to 3yrs 7m2009 Total OP = £11,339. Term reduced by 3yrs 7m:TMortgage free Dec 2009 :T0 -
Ok so i budgeted £450 for my Service/mot and any potential things that need fixing, It failed on the Catalytic convertor and a new one is a further £350 (inc labour) ontop of the service/Mot and a few minor fixes, total bill £650
So not only do i have nothing else to overpay the mortgage i now have to find another £200, Luckerly i can put the costs on my CC next week so they will miss my April statement giving me 6 more weeks to pay. It still pains me to part with money for a Cat, especially as i am a dog person!Balance as at Dec 2010 £88,000Balance as at Oct 2013 £0Original MF date 01.05.2027 :mad:Morgage free as of 24/10/2013 (13.5 years early) :j0 -
No. 277 checking in with March OP details...
£1205.54
£1000.00
£350.00
£450.00
£188.57
A grand total of £3194.11!!!!!!
So year to date I have paid £5354.11, yeah!
The rest of the year won't be as much i'm afraid as I have been moving lots of money around and also utilised some of my 0% a&l overdraft so will be slowly paying that off the rest of the year. Still every penny counts!
Well done to everyone too-we'll be at a million before we know it!:T0 -
No 294 here - no overpayment yet & probably wont be for at least 3 months.
I really want to get started as I have been mortgage free in the past for a grand total of 9 months. We repaid our previous mortgage to be mortgage free at 40. Which was great but then we fell in love with another house & took the plunge & moved in December 2007.
We took a mortgage to move & in January this year took more to do major work on the house & an extension. I know it will all be worth it in the end but until the building work is complete I am saving every last penny for my contingency fund.
Once all the work is complete I will be slipping all I can into overpayments - at its highest on 2nd Jan this year the mortgage was £187717.88 & taking into account the normal repayments I think I need to find an extra £1000 to bring the balance below £180K by the end of the year.
It is great reading all of your stories & it really helps me to keep my goal in sight - so a big thank you to every body else on the mortgage free journeyDeclutter 2023 110/520
