  • hello....

i havent managed any over payments yet either, although i have set up a standing order for £10 a month starting February. only a small amount but it means even in the bad months i'll be overpaying something!

i used to overpay a lot more but i've moved to a larger house now and the mortgage payments are a lot bigger! also realised we need to do more decorating/changes to the house than we first thought... including a new boiler, so that'll take up even more of our budget!

i've been thinking when my goal should be and have decided i want to be mortgage free at 40... that gives me just under 12 years achieve it in! which basically will half the life of the mortgage
    MFW 2015 so far..... £1808.70
    :) 2014 - £1451 2013 - £1600 2012 - £4145 2011 - £5715 2010 - £3258:)
Big new mortgage from 2017

  • Just signed up for Nationwides online banking so I can monitor my mortgage online monthly, I didnt realise I could do this as I only have my mortgage with them.
Only trouble is I'm going to become obsessed with keeping the balance at a nice rounded figure;)

 And this is a problem? Oops, a few people on here have issues then :rotfl:

Do NW update daily (in which case I concede it might be a problem :rotfl:) or monthly? I'm with Egg which is great in that you can transfer money in & out v easily, but although offset updates instantly the mortgage only changes monthly.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

I have online access with my Nationwide mortgage and interest is added daily, so the figure will change every day.

I have access to my nationwide mortgage online and it is addictive but I try to limit myself to at least 2 or 3 a month. It is good to see the amount coming down after overpayments and your normal payments.

Well I finally got off my backside and sent of the first bank charges reclaiming letter - thought I'd post that on her just because 1) I am pleased with myself for doing it and 2) whatever we reclaim (if anything at all) will be paid into the mortgage fund - heres hoping!!!

I am waiting to find out what my min payments for my mortgage are these days since the rates went down, all I know is that my monthly payment is £1000 and that includes the OP - but since I dont know my min mortgage payment I dont know how much I am OP'ing!!!

Same here. Sounds strange when I explain to people that I have x thousand pound worth of 'debt' on credit cards and I only ever pay the minimum, and I also am uncertain what the minimum monthly payment on my mortgage is.

    I get odd looks. ;)
