    Mortgage-free Glee!
I’m paying the following credit card minimum payments out of my income this month which effectively reduce my existing mortgage debt. (All 0% deals):

    Ulster £105.00,
Abbey £55.00, Halifax £74.04, Ulster £76.00, Bank of Scotland £8.24

With a ‘proper’ mortgage payment of £51.10 and an overpayment of 1160.87 Should take my outstanding debt down to £21.3K for which I’m paying £24.10 in interest monthly.

My first overpayment of the year has been made already! the rent money came in so i couldn't resist! have overpaid 150, although technically i overpay 8 pound a month as standard as my set payment is over the required amount. I've also saved the other 250 of the rent money into my offset savings account for the time being!

Although Im likely to need a chunk of this very soon to pay off the rest of my glastonbury ticket!

Could I join please? As the title says, i wanto break free! which means being mortgage free. I am determined this year to make a difference. It is the ideal time!

I would like to pay off 10,000.00. it is way beyond my reach atm but who knows what 2009 will bring. I will funnel all extra money towards paying this amount off and it will be interesting how close (or not:o , i get to my target). Wish me luck:D

Our target at the moment is in excess of £820,000

a bit difficult to be more accurate as some targets are 'to get mortgage below...' or 'reduce mortgage by...' rather than a particular amount to OP but that is a fantastic target to have. Definately something to aspire to!!!

    I plan to repay 6k:j

    Gosh,

reading through some of these post has made me so jealous, I havent paid anything to my op yet:eek: . Im having to wait until the end of the month to see what ive got left, but, im hoping it will be in the region of £250.

Spoke to Dh the other day, and explained that I hated having a big mortgage, he said he was thinking about that too. He has to see his accountant at the end of the month/beginning of February, and he said he might take some of our savings to pay to the mortgage = 10% of balance which would be in the region of £18000:j :j :j .

I had originally only set my target for £3000, so I would over the moon if we did this. If we did this, it would still leave us with plenty of savings. If we did do this, I would still save me £3000 this year, and would put this towards the OP for next year :T :T .
