    :DHello All,

As always I have been enjoying reading your posts- keep it up guys we're doing brilliantly!!

Anyway, I'm late posting for August because the end of the month was hectic. But I did OP £309.09, which is not bad for the holidays, we even had a trip abroad so I'm quite pleased with this figure. £160 is part of our regular direct debit and the rest was made up of additional income such as Halifax Rewards, and pay for a couple of extra days work.

I would be surprised if we OP anymore than the regular £160 for the rest of the year as we have started major work on our house that we were originally planning for next year.
It will be expensive, but the goal is to pay for as much as we can from our current accounts- using cashback credit card where possible and then draw down additional money from Nationwide OP reserve as we need it (should take about a week from me sending them a letter to us receiving a cheque).

Then it will be a case of reining in the Christmas spending as much as possible so that 2010 has a headstart on the OPing to hopefully reduce the mortgage to 80000 or below by the end of 2010.

Good Luck for the coming months:D.
2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.
    MFW OPd 2014 £2000 2013 £9700 2012 £2848.39 2011 £2509.58 2010 £11000 2009 £112002008 £4939 :D

  • 19 days to go and my investment (company share plan) got back on track this week after taking a 25% dive. I just need the stock to rise 5% and I'm there.
Currently stoozing 17.5K from Virgin Money Card, and earning 4% from 7K sat in Lloyds TSB Vantage account, and 2K in 3.25% Egg Savings account. The only overpayments I'm making (generating) is the interest from stoozed funds. Looking forward to a half term holiday in October and opening that bottle of St. Emillion.

Made my final overpayment for September of £240 which was made up of a credit received from Scottish Power as we recently switched, which makes a total overpayment of £440 for September. No 215 reporting in.

    Overpayments 2006-2009 = £11985; 2010 = £6170, 2011 = £5570, 2012 = £1290
  • Right. I'm back with a vengence! Having had a pretty tough time of it at work (still got a job though so better than some...) I am now in total 'mortgage-slaying' mode. Should still be on track to get down to £100k by the end of the year (fingers crossed) if we are ultra frugal.

    Wish me luck!

  • Hi,

I would like to join this forum. My mortgage has reduced significantly this year, in part due to the falling interest rates as well as some overpayments.

My mortgage was 176,651 at end December 2008. As at the end of August, it was on 167,725 (reduced by some 9k in 8 months). I am hoping to get it down to at least 160,000 by end December 2009.

    Many thanks,
    SusanneCape

Overpayment of £575 so far this month.

Hoping to add another £50-£100 before the end of the month (I've listed loads of stuff on eBay).

Inspired by your strategy, I'm looking for a decent bottle of claret to lay down ahead of the final 5 years on my mortgage.

Having potentially saved over £400 in interest alone. it might even be a half case....;)

SmileyG and cheeryoleary you have admirable will power- a good bottle of wine would never survive 5 years in our house :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

Hell, a bad bottle of wine wouldn't last 5 years in our house :o
