  • No. 280 dropping by after 5 long months of not being able to overpay. I've been lurking and reading everyone's amazing achievements- well done all!

After saving hard, today I made an overpayment of £4259 thrashing my target for the year already- yippeee!
  • Hi Id like to join in formally! we starting making some overpayments in june and would like to pay off £3500 by december! we have done about £2250 to date our mortage is in two parts the balance in june 09 was part 1 £122666 part 2 was £64804. we are focusing our efforts on part 2 because its the higher rate.
so today I've deposited £150 and am raising change odd bits of cash from piggy bank and dormant saving accounts

    thank you
:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j
  • Hi,

I hope everyone's enjoying the bank holiday weekend (where it is BH in the UK).

    I forgot to post July's OP - £295.47

    August OP's will be £311.31

This makes a YTD total of £2795.23. My revised year end target is £3720.

I'll try to remember to post next month

  • OK, last made a post in this thread on 1st August, but I don’t think I PM’d Zavarony. As we’re going away for a few days in the morning, thought I’d better post an update for August and September. Figures are as follows:

Payment / YTD payments / YTD Percentage

    August: 126.97 / 1,715.76 / 45.15%
    September: 201.97 / 1,917.73 / 50.47%

September payment will be paid via automated overpayment on 1st September. From September until the end of the year, this automated overpayment has been upped from 126.97 to 201.97, as I’ve now set a 2009 year end mortgage value I would like to try and meet.

Zavarony – I will PM you this time.:o

(naturally a few hours later I discovered my roof needs repairing, but never mind! :rotfl:)

Made my first EVER OP today. £121.19. I know it's an odd number but it rounds up my DD to £450 pm. So it's not such an odd number. Should be able to chuck a bit more at the OP's come Feb/March time as well (fingers crossed).
Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
    % of house owned/% of mortgage paid off. July 25 - 38.82%/31.66%

Overpayment of £441 going in tomorrow, really happy as its been a tough month and alot has been spent on boozing now football is back!
  • NR wouldn't let me pay the mortgage down to £1 - could only pay it down to £100.

I can't find any reference to this restriction in my mortgage terms and conditions so I've written a letter of complaint to Northern Rock.
If they impose new conditions without following the appropriate procedure, I think I'm entitled to a fee considering that if the boot was on the other foot and I changed the conditions, Northern Rock would do the same. Also, they made reference to the wrong interest rate on their latest communication to me so that'll add some weight to the complaint.
