Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know hat while I'm still a bit down, I've actually stopped crying. You think that most of the tears are gone when you face up to this, and go about doing something about it, until you get crushed by someone saying no... rather meanly. I think I had myself physiologically set up for compilation August 2009 and when I discovered it may be later then that I just couldn't handle it. At the moment I'm not only paying off my DMP of 495, I also pay back my parents £150(which PP isn't aware of) a month for the £7000 they gave me (which is only a token for what I owe them really). So between that and my rent of 750... bill etc. I had £70 for food this month and for the next 3 weeks will be eating soup and wholemeal bread.
I think the uncertainty is really quite scary, and hopefully I'll manage to be like some of you !!! kicking guys in a years time when this is over (fingers crossed) and be able to help someone the way you have me...LBM June 2008 Debt at LB £6906.65 :eek:Payments to date-£2933.871 year to lose:j 20 pounds- September 2009 (9 so far) (Weight loss the old style way)"A life lived in fear, is a life half lived"0 -
on re-reading your posts, you have done all you can to pay this debt. Keep all your correspondance to show that you've made offers to pay them, cos if they do take it to court (and it'll cost them a few £ks to do this) then you've got proof that they are the ones blocking you from making payments by not giving you their bank details.
I think the judge would be in your corner, and you'll only end up paying the amount you offered in the first place.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
dumb luck, I feel for you. You've only had your lbm very recently, and it's great to begin to feel that you are finally getting back in control. However, you will have the odd wobbly over the next few months where it doesn't seem to matter how very hard you try, some bug ger always comes along to spoil it. I am still learning the hard way not to react to stroppy letters immediately, especially with tears and tantrums. Even urgent stuff can be put on hold while you make a cup of tea, and get some advice on here, or even just think it through and put it into perspective. It stops you making things worse for yourself when you do get in contact. Horrible things always come along to take the shine off something good that has happened - you have to learn not to let it. It can take a lot of learning (well, it does for me-hot tempered, grumpy person that I am at times!)
good luck xxx:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Scaredy_Cat I truly hope you are right :-) My real hope is that they are only adding on the amount of inerest they have so that they can sell it on to a DCA for what they orignally gave me + make a little profit. Saying I owe the 1789 when I originall borrow £800 means they'll make less of a loss.
I'm really scared of being brought to court- which I suppose is why it's a good threat...LBM June 2008 Debt at LB £6906.65 :eek:Payments to date-£2933.871 year to lose:j 20 pounds- September 2009 (9 so far) (Weight loss the old style way)"A life lived in fear, is a life half lived"0 -

How much do you have now? Start a thread and we can help you get through the month food wise. Start with all you have in the cupboard, fridge, freezer. Pop over to the Old Style board and read up on some of the threads - one MSE'er is feeding her and her hubby on 50p a day (which really takes some doing!)
I remember a few months back we helped another DFW'er who had something like £10 for the month and she got through it without starving or having to eat the same food repeatedly"Stay Wonky":D

Whitewing, thank you for such a lovely post xx I think you are totally right, I felt like I was getting back in control and you know something I still am... 8 creditors have said yes to my DMP, 1 has said no, and 1 is MIA.
I'm relieved that I only shook on the phone to SDC... like seriously if I didn't have £1089 originally where was £1789 come from magically?
I did totally break down when on the phone to PayPlan. Half of it is because my case manager was trying so hard to be nice to me, and the other half is because I still can't believe the mess I've made of everything.LBM June 2008 Debt at LB £6906.65 :eek:Payments to date-£2933.871 year to lose:j 20 pounds- September 2009 (9 so far) (Weight loss the old style way)"A life lived in fear, is a life half lived"0 -
I think you should write to SDC asking for a full statement of the charges to see where they are getting them. Then you can contest the ones which aren't right.
And remember - they can't get what you don't have.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -

That was really lovely- I have after buy electricity and a trip to asda- wait for it £9.70 to do me until the 22nd of November. However I have enough food I think to do me until then. I bout 5 loves of wholemeal bread and froze four of them. I can bring them to school and eat tinned soup there with little or no comment being made. (the last time I couldn't afford to eat much everyone was commenting about me taking my diet to seriously and I ended out lying about when I'd eaten etc and rightly so, I'm a diabetic I need to eat regularly.) So that's Breakfast and lunch sorted. I bought cheese, eggs, loads of pasta and tins of tomatoes, baked beans spaghetti and sausages. All the vegetables I bough went straight in the fridge and should last well enough.
I'm poor, but I think this month I may avoid being as hungry as I was last month. Well maybe a bit hungry but it's helped me lose weight so I can't fail but see a positive side to it.
I kept saying to myself its only till August, but now that it may be longer I just miss my social life, being able to go out, afford nice presents for peoples birthdays, travel, eating nice food, clothes, even getting transport to work is a missed luxary because now because I walk everywhere.
Sorry I know I sound moany, but I'm not really... I know we're all in the same boat, and I truly unlike some I deserve to be broke, I had plenty of fun up until now doing all the things I miss put me in this position...LBM June 2008 Debt at LB £6906.65 :eek:Payments to date-£2933.871 year to lose:j 20 pounds- September 2009 (9 so far) (Weight loss the old style way)"A life lived in fear, is a life half lived"0 -

They refuse to correspond in writing. Email and phone only. Would an email stand up in court as proof?LBM June 2008 Debt at LB £6906.65 :eek:Payments to date-£2933.871 year to lose:j 20 pounds- September 2009 (9 so far) (Weight loss the old style way)"A life lived in fear, is a life half lived"0 -
yes, i'd have thought so, especially if you've got an email of them saying they won't write to you!
make sure when you print them to get the date on them as well.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500
