Soap stain help...don't laugh!!!

I have got a stain problem...have somehow got some liquid soap on a mattress (it don't belong to me either!!!) and cannot seem to get it out!!!!!

Initially I did the old damp cloth thing but it was in a cold room and still felt wet a week later, I then moved it into a warm room and had another go. Now it has dried but feels greasy and the stain although not BAD(as in a dodgy colour) is just spreading out and getting bigger!!!!!! Obviously I can't just sling it in the washer either so am bamboozled with the whole blinkin thing.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

  • Have you got access to a vax type carpet cleaner? If the mark is just made up of soap, then it basically needs water to liquify it, but, being a mattress, obviously you can't just wash as a normal piece of cloth. If you could 'vax' it, then you could apply enough water to wash the soap out but at the same time suck nearly all the water out. Don't over wet all at once, do the cleaning in a number of 'sweeps'.

Personally, if its a mattress your'e not using at the moment I'd stand it on its side and squirt water onto it with a plant sprayer or just use a wet cloth and soak it off. Then leave it near a radiator to dry off. That kind of thing doesn't bother me to soak it and let it dry naturally. A child had an accident on our sofa once and I poured warm soapy water straight onto it and just let it dry near a radiator.

Maybe a hairdryer will help to dry it out oce you have got the soap out- easier than using an iron!
