It's Snowing

Cold and dry here in East Anglia/Essex border (the border is halfway across the river and I live about 2 miles from it!)...and I have put my heating on for the first time on timer for the first time since Feb this year!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Sunny and wonderful today in Kent. The Generalissimos and I walked up to the town after lunch and loafed around the cricket ground for a while before going for a much deserved hot chocolate.0

on topic - a bitterly cold winter will see a sharp rise in probate sales applying even further downward pressure on house prices.
*ahem* I'm a bad man I know, poor taste jokes and all that... but it's true
I know, I know - we will probably be buying a probate place, and in our turn we will be a probate sale!0 -

on topic - the last thing we need is a cold winter, pushing up energy usage will take even more money out of peoples' pockets and reduce the chance of any price reductions - indeed if it is a cold winter all over Europe and with Russia suffering financial meltdown are we certain there will be enough gas to go around?
Indeed. My husband and I have resolved to leave the heating off til Nov 1st, but tonight is really testing my resolve. I'm curled up on the couch with a blanket right now. To us leaving the heating off is a bit of a game, but for those who can't actually afford to turn it on it must be a nightmare.0 -
Gracie, I am one of those who really cannot afford to switch it on but I have cut into my food budget (which is not large anyway!) to top up the gas so it can be switched on.
I can stand the cold, I just snuggle under a quilt in the front room but youngest is not very well at the moment and really needs a decently heated (but not overheated) house to aid his recovery, so it is a no brainer to me...I can go without food for a day or so to ensure he gets the heat needed. We made it!
