Not sure if this is completely correct but I was told that seeds from fruit, veg and flowering plants purchased have a type of seed that can't propogated. Therefore it is doubtful that you would be able to grow anything from those seeds. HTH and that it's correct. x

I'm not an expert in this area, but there a several reasons why rowing seeds from purchased produce may or not work. I've successfully grown many plants from seeds collected from road-side flowers and shop-bought fruit and veg, but it is hit and miss and I do it for fun. Seeds from hybrid plants generally will not propagate true. However, a major factor for success is that the strains of plants used for commercial production will be matched to the local climate and growing conditions to maximise profit, but generally you have no idea what these are.

If I do get lucky, then I have saved the seed from the veg/ fruit that I have successfully grown for use the following year. (Typically gently remove any fleshy material, dry between 2 layers of kitchen towel and keep in closed container in a cool place).

To be blunt, if you want to have a reasonable chance of a decent return on your efforts, you are better off buying the seed to match your growing conditions. In the scheme of things, the seeds are cheap compared to the potting compost, fertiliser etc. and not least the time you invest.
