What time frame are you giving yourself for open? 10mins?

It's the option expiry day tomorrow. There'll be plenty of people looking to buy (effectively) to close out put options.

I hate to say, 'I told you so' but I did so I will.

    I told you so.
  • Starting to creep down though Gen. I was out for dinner with some brokers last night who reckoned the FTSE100 would go down to 2500. They mentioned that one famous bear (wasn't famous to me, so I've forgotten his name) was banking on the FTSE going down to 1000.

I might be popping my pension back into cash today!! :O

Opened near 3925, then had a step up to 4025, now wobbling back down to 3975 at a reasonably linear rate.
    Happy chappy
  • We need it to close above 4000 and then I'll have made a slight profit and can move back into cash with a clean conscience!

Doesn't look as though it's going to unless we have a late rally, and we don;t tend to have those on a Friday :(

Yeah, the FTSE's got a long way down to go IMO. It looks like stonking value at the moment in terms of yield but they'll fall away as profits get smashed by the credit crunch and recession.

I'm sure there'll be time for the odd rally or 2 along the way though to draw in the unwary.

We could see the end of the Cult of Equity as most baby boomers really can't afford to lose a big proportion of their pension pot this close to retirement.

So did I - up 4% at open.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

You seem very knowledgeable about this Gen. Can I ask what you do/did as a living?

Banking back office. Then spent some time running the back office of a hedge fund (very poorly paid sadly - you take a gamble and it didn't pay off for me).

I have a degree in Economics too.
