Hello,
Well now we have a debt free date I decided to make a diary, I haven't done one before but I'm going to post everyday about any changes, my feelings etc, so that we we can look back at this and be glad its over and try not to get into the same situation again.
Ok, Debt Free Date: Sept 09.
These debts are OH's. I havent included mine as my only debt is my car finance and as that's an ongoing thing and we keep our debts seperate anyway.
Right so here's goes!
Current Debt: £5624.64
Wednesday 15th Oct 08
Feeling positive today as we have slashed 3 months off our DFD, orginally it was Dec 09 but as we are moving back into my OH parents place it has given us the DFD of Sept 09. Only thing is we need to buy a couple of sofa's - I see DFS are offering 0% so hopefully that wont be an issue - Dont need them for a month or so. The real aim of getting debt free is so that we can start trying for a family in July 09. So all in all - Positive thinking 2day!!

Not as positive today, feeling down about the situation. Not looking forward to moving back to my OH parents until OH debts are cleared. Although its a good idea and I was fine about it I've been thinking about it carefully and think that if I move there OH is going to be controlling and I wont see my family hardly at all. Really struggling to keep this relationship going at the minute, I don't have any fight left in me anymore. Feeling abit like an empty soul with a hard face on...Credit Cards at 0% £958.00Credit Card at 19.9% £2305.65Total Debt: [strike]£6290.76[/strike] £3263.65DFD: Dec 090 -
HI Squirrel,
well done for starting your diary, it's better than i've ever done.
Sorry to hear your struggling with OH and the thought of moving in with your OH's parents, i would find that absolutely impossible for me to do.
It's always hard at the start when you're dying to pay things off and you have to wait until they're due for payment, very frustrating. Is there any way you can make small interim payments to just pay a little extra or put the money to one side to see if you can pay more than you initially though - giving yourself a little challenge to keep you on track until the payment goes through.
Keep posting, i'll be interested in seeing how things get on.0 -
Lemon Tree,
Thanks for your support. Feeling a little better now. The annoying thing about my OH is that its his debts - but I'm the one 'paying for it' by that I don't mean litterally paying for it, I mean emotionally. We have live really carefully because of his stupid mistakes. But if I don't sort it out it will never happen. Yes he puts all the money he can asside and then makes one big payment to each of the cards/loan each month. Just cannot wait for the day when they all say £0!!! I am really concerned about your earlier post. Why do you think that your OH would be "controllng" if you moved in with the parents? Would you not be able to see your own family because of the distance or is there something else?
Well done with the finances! Keep it up!Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
Hi,
I think he would be controlling because it is a 45 minute drive to see them, and even when we see them now he doesnt really speak to them, same with my parents - they dont really speak to him because of our situation. We work for my parents and I see them everyday and they can see how unhappy I have been in the past from trying to sort out this mess and naturally they dont like it. But now its all under control and we have a debt free date things should go alot more smoothly now.
I go to my parents house every Saturday to clean aswell so after a talk with OH we have decided that I will still do this, so everything is going to be ok.
