Midnight's Debt Mountain

Evening everyone,
Another busy day - I've tidied the house (sort of)
, and done some batch cooking. My goal for the next seven days is to live on what we've got in the freezer and hopefully keep out of the shops. I bought more bread, milk and potatoes this morning so apart from having to get more bread througout the week I should manage it.
I've just made a big pan of Sweet Potato Soup and baked a crusty loaf, so we'll have that when OH gets in. I've used up a couple of tins of value fruit cocktail by filling a sponge flan and I'll make some custard to go with it. To be honest it was quite fun just going through the cupboards and just trying to make a meal out of what I've got.
Sunday was a NSD as I spent most of the day watching soppy films (this TV watching could get quite addictive
). Today I only spent £3.95, so that's not too bad. I get paid tomorrow from my second job so I'll get on with paying some more bills and chucking something towards the debt and I'll update my signature soon.
Lunar - We're in Scotland and sometimes - only sometimes mind - we do get nice weather (not often so we have to make the most of it). Just caught up with your diary - lucky you having such a good baby! Long may it last :T
Taxi - Hi, thanks for the advice re insurance. I'm going to ge OH to dig out the paperwork and have a look at what we do and don't have regarding insurances. There's so many things I used to just let sail over my head and never even gave a thought to - insurance was one of these things, but I'll look into it. Cheers:T
Mrs Porriage - Hi, Feeling much better and a lot more positive, thanks! I really, really hate when the clocks change - I don't know why but it seems to mess up my life for weeks. I especially hate the winter, and I know exactly what you mean about getting home and feeling like going straight to bed, but with having the puppies I need to force myself to go out with them every night, so I'm hoping that helps this year. I've bought a thermal vest :rotfl: and a couple of thick polo neck jumpers so I don't freeze in the process. But by the sounds of things, it appears we're getting much better weather up here in Scotland, (I actually sat outside for ten minutes this morning, watching the dogs playing in the garden, and it was really a nice, pleasant morning - more like Spring than Autumn
)
Well, off to tidy my kitchen because it looks like a bombs hit it. Then I have to run DD to work as she starts at half nine tonight. So I hope everyone has a great evening.

Arrrrgh!!!!! Had to go into town today and the car just died. To be fair, it's been doing this for a couple of weeks now, sometimes it starts first time and other times it takes a good few turns of the key to get it to fire up. Well today, in the middle of the town, it decided to just give up the ghost all together.
There I was stuck in a car park with a car that simply went duh every time I turned the key in the ignition. After phoning OH and arranging for him to get away from work to come and rescue me, I decided to give it one more try and, hooray!!!, it started up first time. However, it was quite plain that the battery was on it's last legs (if batteries have legs :rotfl: ) anyway, to cut a long story short, I drove it to the service station where you get Tesco Clubcard points and asked them to test the battery for me - as I suspected it was on its way out - and ended up having to fork out £50 for a new battery  . Still, I'm being sensible about it, there was no guarantee that the car would start again once I switched the engine off and I rely on the car for getting in and out to work. At least I know that it's sound now for the winter months ahead. OH will give it a winter check over - tyres, oil, anti freeze etc, and hopefully I should be good to go for a good while yet.
The new battery has got a two year guarantee on it so I'm good for a couple of years anyway.
Working tonight so I'm off to jump in the shower and get myself tidied up for work  .Debt £171000 - Current Debt £168883Between Oct 08 and Apr 09 Pay off £12k = £2117/£12000£2 Savings Pot = £80 -

My goodness, I can't believe it's been so long since I posted on here....just been so busy what with work, helping DS and his partner with their new home, dog training and general day to day life.
Well, the debt busting is on track - although it seems the track is a bit wobbly at the moment. There just seems to be more debt than money at the moment...it just seems like that sometimes, doesn't it.
Well, this is a flying visit. I'm off to see if I can get OH's new mobile phone unblocked and if I can I'm going to put it on ebay tomorrow. I'll update sig as soon as I have a few spare minutes.
Hi Lunar - how is your DS doing? Hope everything is okay. I'll catch up with everyone's diary as soon as possible.

Hi midninght,
it's been a while since I caught up with you but seems you've been pretty busy. Grim having the car die & having to buy new battery but hopefully it should last a long while now. Hope DS settled in now & puppies behaving

Can't believe this....I've just spent half an hour posting a great big long explanation as to where I've been for the last three weeks or so, and I've lost it. Computers are definately not my friends at the moment!!!Debt £171000 - Current Debt £168883Between Oct 08 and Apr 09 Pay off £12k = £2117/£12000£2 Savings Pot = £80

Okay, now that the blessed thing seems to be behaving, I'll start again...
Haven't been on here for a while because:
a) I've been working my socks off trying to earn some extra money
b) DS has lost his job - another victim of the dreaded credit crunch - and the worst thing is they recently moved into a new house (not new, new, but new to them) and we've been helping them decorate etc. Although he's a bit down he's managing to stay positive and been applying for lots of jobs, so fingers crossed.
c) I, apparantly, am the kiss of death to computers. My own computer crashed and burned, the works computer just curled up and died about three weeks ago and they cannot figure out what exactly is wrong with it. And last night at my second job I somehow managed to crash a whole system!!! Not back going huh?
Anyway, quick update...
DFW thing is still on track although not without a few serious wobbles though. However, I got paid today from my secod job and I received a bonus of £300, so that will come in very handy indeed.
The solicitor has very kindly agreed to let me pay up his account in instalments, so I'll nip into town later today and pay the council tax at the same time.
Well, I'll go and get on, and now that I'm back in the land of the living I'll catch up with everyone's diaries later tonight. Hope everyone has a good day!Debt £171000 - Current Debt £168883Between Oct 08 and Apr 09 Pay off £12k = £2117/£12000£2 Savings Pot = £80
